A Closer Look Into The Mind Of Neph-son Donnie Earl Paulk

OK, so yesterday I scratched the surface with a post about what’s new with Earl Paulk’s neph-son Donnie Earl (D.E.) Paulk here in suburban Atlanta.  Looking further into the happenings at Club Heretic (Cathedral at Chapel Hill), I got more insight into what’s going on in the mind of Donnie Earl.

It appears as though Unc-dad Earl brought heretic Carlton Pearson into Club Heretic some time ago, but the Club didn’t push Carlton away when he fell off the deep end with his hair-brained “inclusion” philosophy (and I use the word “philosophy” purposely). Truth be told, they were too busy trying to keep old man Earl in line, so they chose their battles, I guess.  Some even speculate that Donnie Earl is seeking to include heretic Carlton on his leadership team at Club Heretic.

If you still think that Carlton Pearson has any shred of credibility with the bile that flows from his mouth, then you need to stop reading this post right now and repent before the Lord!

I’d like to draw your attention to Unc-son Donnie Earl’s “suggested reading & movie viewing list” for the few sheep who remain at Club Heretic. Donnie Earl calls them “tools for the awakening”. Awakening from what – sound biblical doctrine? What insight can you gain from reading books written by Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, Carlton “the Heretic” Pearson – and watching movies like “Powder” and “Chocolate”?

Also, while reading the belief statement for Club Heretic, I found a few oddities (my emphasis in bold):

We are a group of truth seekers who:

  • perceive Christ cannot be, and will not be, restricted to Christianity…
  • affirm Christ in all of His creation…
  • celebrate truth as a journey, not a destination…
  • assert the Creator cannot be defined, or confined, by the creation…
  • believe the Word of God, the Christ, is perfect, infallible, inerrant…
  • understand the fallible cannot accurately scribe the infallible…
  • admit the errant finite mind cannot perfectly describe the Inerrant Infinite Mind…
  • embrace truth as a knowing, not a known…profess faith is a hearing, not a heard…
  • accept God has reconciled the world to Himself through Christ…
  • endeavor to convince the world of God’s love, not convert the world to Christianity…

How can you “believe the Word of God…is perfect, infallible, inerrant” and STILL say that Christianity can’t be “confined to Christians”? Since when was the pastors job description edited to “convince the world of God’s love”…isn’t he supposed to preach the Word of liberation from sin through Jesus Christ (2 Timothy 4:2 NASB).

But wait, there’s more…take a look at Donnie Earl’s affection for “inclusion”:

INCLUSION proclaims:

  • Christ loves and includes ALL of His creation in His finished work of REDEMPTION and RECONCILIATION!  (II Corinthians 5:18-19)
  • ALL THINGS flowed from the Christ (John 1) and that ALL THINGS will flow back to the Christ!  (Ephesians 1:10)
  • An OMNISCIENT Creator was neither shocked nor shaken by the creation’s sin – “Lamb slain from the foundation of the world…” [Revelation 13:8]
  • When Christ arrived in time at Calvary’s cross He had already agreed in eternity to its redemption ages prior – His earthly life, death, crucifixion and resurrection were merely time’s rerun of eternity’s sitcom!
  • There was an INSURANCE POLICY in plan in place and in full (paid for) before it was ever needed!  (Romans 8:28-39 / Ephesians 1:4-11)
  • The ENEMY MIND comes in an effort to deny that we have a policy, to refute that we have a claim and to question if the policy is paid up to date!  (Revelation 12:10)
  • Man’s FAITHLESSNESS cannot defeat God’s FAITHFULNESS!  (Romans 3:3-4)
  • Faith does not dispel fear… LOVE DISPELS FEAR!  [I John 4:10, 18]
  • When the MIND can conceive of the UNCONDITIONAL LOVE of God then the HEART will receive the FAITH it so desperately seeks to find!  (Philippians 2:10-11)
  • When LOVE is the agenda… FAITH will be the result!

Is there anything written above that affirms (as the bible says) that salvation can only be found through belief and acceptance in Jesus Christ? And what the heck does “when love is the agenda, faith will be the result” mean?

The scriptures listed above are not in error – but they aren’t exposed in their proper context (or with the proper intention, quite frankly, since Donnie Earl is using them to bolster his heretical “inclusion” plea). Rather than retype content that I’ve presented before, let’s take a closer look at what God’s Word says about salvation and reconciliation back to him through the shed Blood of His Begotten Son.

Either God lied when He gave His only Son as the propitiation for our sin debt (John 3:16) – which we KNOW is false because can God CANNOT LIE (Numbers 23:19) – or Donnie Earl and Carlton the Heretic are liars when they claim that ANYBODY can go to Heaven EVEN IF THEY DON’T ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST & REPENT OF THEIR SINS.

Now THAT sounds more plausible…

I use to think D.E. Paulk was a pretty cool guy [of course I was 9 then…what did I know], but reading how he is hanging with the universalist Pearson just shows how low someone will go to revive a flagging church.

  2. 2 Brother K June 19, 2008 at 6:45 pm

I’m glad to see this additional post on the Paulks and the ‘church’ they run. Reading this morning’s offering on D.E. and following the links (and their attendant links) led me through quite a dizzying level of apostasy, if not outright heresy. But on one link, I too noticed the “Suggested Reading and Viewing” list. My jaw dropped at the inclusion of POWDER; the openly gay writer/director of the film, Victor Salva, was convicted in 1988 of 5 felony child sex abuse counts including child molestation and procuring a child for pornography. What made it even more insidious was the fact that the victim was starring in one of Salva’s earlier films at the time, a horror film titled Clownhouse. Is THIS how far “inclusion” is to go? What kind of “church” do you have where you abandon God’s Holy Writ but promote the work of child molesters as “recommended viewing?”

Again I ask, though I grow hoarse asking it, why do these people even BOTHER to call themselves Christian if they are going to so thoroughly reject The Gospel of the salvation of Jesus Christ? “Oh, that one of you would shut the temple doors, so that you would not light useless fires on my altar!” Won’t someone PLEASE just shut the door?

  3. 3 speaking truth June 19, 2008 at 8:04 pm

Doug, everybody though D.E. was cool because he was different than the elderly men who ran his Unc-dad’s church. The fact that he startedhis own church rather than (initially) take the mantle from his Unc-dad in the first place helped establish his reputation in the ATL as a maverck. Add to that his love of Lenny Kravitz and jeans, then you’ve got a charismatic powerhouse!

Then the lights came on and we saw him for what he really is – another “can’t we all just get along(at the expense of the Gospel)” kind of fella.

Brother K, these people still call themselves Christians because they think they still are (or ever where). Don’t worry, when the word “apostate” becomes cool (sort of like “rebel” or “maverick”), then they’ll be glad to carry the label.

May be I am off the subject, but shouldnt D.E Paulk and his unc-dad be trying to get on Jerry Springer?

  5. 5 Douglas K. Adu-Boahen June 20, 2008 at 6:12 am

So true, so true…as for Pearson, he [IMHO] is a classic example of why Pentecostalism has the potential to shipwreck faith rather than build it up

    Speaking Truth,
What happened to spiritual accountability and the rule of Eldership. We have so many denominations and different households of faith in America–it is only GOD’s AMAZING GRACE that a few of us have actually experienced salvation. People ask me how do you know that GOD is with you–I tell them very simply…It not feelings, emotions,..I tell them my testimony of GOD’s Grace but what really convinces them is my testimony of GOD’s chastening!

I don’t get it–somewhere along the road, Pearson, Paulk and now his son, (what is this Herod and Herodias, 21st Century…disgusting) they SEARED their consciences and GOD turned them over to a reprobate mind. Because if they know the GOD I know, they would even think let alone put out this garbage. They are of their father the devil.

I had a prophet tell me that because the Churches in America did not discipline and chasten themselves according to HIS instructions in the Bible, GOD will use the World to chasten the Church…and that’s what is happening RIGHT now!

  7. 7 speaking truth June 20, 2008 at 3:50 pm

You know EW, I was having a conversation with Escapeetoo (another brother who fled my former plantation) about accountability and denominationalism. I’m not one to esteem one Chrsitian denomination over another (per se), but in general there is a system of accountability – when someone does wrong there is (supposed to be) a system in place to remedy the matter.

The problem with clubs like New Birth (and all their various spin-offs), Club Heretic above, The Potters House, Paul Morton’s church, and the other hyper-charismatic churches today is that their is no accountability to anyone. They are their own bosses.

As you know, scripture is very clear about the role of elders in the church – and how they should be dealt with by the other elders if they are found to be in error (Ephesians 5:17-22). Can you imagine one of Long or Jakes’ elders coming to them with a corroborated accusation, seeking to have them sat down?

They’d be thrown out of the church before they finished the sentence – and frankly, that’s why you see “revolving door” leadership around these men today…they’d rather dispatch you than be corrected by you.

My My My….. it’s quite amazing to read the comments of so many judgmental self-righteous people. It doesn’t matter what any of you think or feel, toward these 2 men. God has given them life and has allowed them to live it. You don’t know, like I don’t know everything God is doing in the earth. You don’t know how God will choose to do whatever it is he’s doing. He is infinite so that means none of us will ever know it all. Just because you don’t understand something doesn’t mean it isn’t true or real. You don’t understand how the sun hangs in the sky, but that doesn’t stop the sun from hanging there. If God is God, then let him be God, stop trying to help him out by funneling stories/half truths and opinions through your limited (finite) mind. Open your heart and mind to a greater truth than the one you’ve stopped at. There is more to God than what you know of him and even what the bible reports on him, he’s bigger than that and his love is broader than all we know and he doesn’t need any of us to decipher or determine who he loves, promotes, or allows in his kingdom. He is God all by himself!!!

Fed-Up, allow me to disect your comment:

My My My….. it’s quite amazing to read the comments of so many judgmental self-righteous people. It doesn’t matter what any of you think or feel, toward these 2 men. God has given them life and has allowed them to live it.

I won’t speak for anyone else who comments on this blog, but my ONLY righteousness comes from the Blood of Jesus Christ. Unlike Pearson, Paulk, Olsteen, and every other false teacher who proclaims a man-centered theology, I am nothing apart from God through Jesus Christ.

It is my love for God, His Word, and His people that I shine the light of truth on vipers like Pearson and Paulk. If Paulk and Pearson didn’t claim the Name of the Lord, then all we could do is evangelize the Gospel to them and pray that the Lord’s will be done. Since both of them not only claim the Name of Jesus (amoong other names), and assume “leadership” positions within the church, it is our DUTY to judge them – by their words and their fruit. Perhaps you should read your bible to clearly understand that.

You are correct – God is soveriegn, and His will is being done. That in no way excuses the evil deeds of two men who claim that Jesus is not the only path to God the Father. It doesn’t matter if I understand something or not – what matters is what the Word of God says regarding all matters, and my posture is to accept and believe the Word of God.

The hanging sun has nothing to do with this post – we are talking about (and you are clearly defending) a heretic who claims that if you’re a good person you’ll go to heaven (with or without surrendering to Christs), and a wanna-be heretic who has accepted that heretical teaching AND is hooking up with the new-age warlock Eckhart Tolle. Here’s a refresher on how Pearson’s belief system is dangerous teaching – take a look at the comment (reference links and bible verses) and tell me exactly where the “half-truths” are. Tell me where my opinion trumps God’s Word regarding this matter?

There is more to God than what you know of him and even what the bible reports on him, he’s bigger than that and his love is broader than all we know and he doesn’t need any of us to decipher or determine who he loves, promotes, or allows in his kingdom. He is God all by himself!!!

While that is an uplifting prose, Fed-Up, you can’t overlook the fact that God will not be mocked. Either you’ll agree with Him or you’ll agree with His enemies. Even though it looks like Pearson “has it going on again”, he is clearly an enemy of God because of the garbage that spews from his mouth. Maybe you need a quick lesson in what the words apostasy and heresy really mean. Carlton Pearson is a heretic. Period. Donny Earl Paulk is a wanna-be heretic by associating with Pearson. Period. Anyone who teaches contrary to the Word of God is accursed. Period.

Galatians 1:6-9 (New American Standard Bible)

    6I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting (A)Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel;
7which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.

8But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!

9As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!

We are to receive the Word of God and commit to walking it out in our daily lives. If ANYONE brings ANYTHING that does not line up with the Word of God, then they are an antichrist – preaching an antichrist message. Period.

I pray that you spend your time defending the Word of God as opposed to the liars who distort it.

I noticed that Pastor Earl Paulk died and was trying to place him and finally after seeing his picture I was able to remember who he was.

I am amazed at the comments that I am reading on this page, for some innate reason a lot of you appear as if you wrote the bible, do you really think you are entitled to proclaim your wisdom and
intellect as to what is right and what is wrong, all of you bible quoting people are a bunch of hypocrites that are TRULY LOST.

  10. 12 escapeetoo August 19, 2008 at 10:37 pm

    Fed-Up,

You have some major issues. You said, “There is more to God than what you know of him and even what the bible reports on him…”

Wow! Please read the Bible again. the Bible is the irrefutable word of God and adding or deleting from it are heresy. Please study the Sola Scriptura

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sola_scriptura:

You obviously do not have a solid understanding of the essence of God. There is nothing “more” to God other than His Word! His Word was here in the beginning and later was made into flesh via Christ. The Old Testament was Christ (The Word) concealed. The New Testament is Gods Word reveled.

  12. 14 GaAzalea March 10, 2009 at 4:04 pm

You can figure that it won’t take long for the Paulk supporters to scurry out of the woodwork and attack those who criticize them. I’ve been dealing with their attacks on me, in various ways, for 16 years, ever since I left Earl Paulk’s church.

Paulk, and now Donnie Earl, teach the members of their church, those few who remain, that those of us who have left are their enemy, that not only have we left “a church,” but that we have left God. Earl Paulk prophesied from his pulpit a few weeks after I left there that those of us who had left would be dead within 5 years, that that was his curse on us. When 5 years had passed and no more of us were dead than would have happened in any other demographic, Earl backtracked and said that what he meant was that we would all be “spiritually dead.” I guess he didn’t want to look like a false prophet.

Earl and Donnie Earl preach undying hatred and animosity for those of us who dare to have left their fold, and who dare to speak against them. For all Donnie Earl’s talk of love and acceptance of all, he has no love for us, the many thousands whose lives have been left in destruction and turmoil because of his and his family’s acts. In fact, he refers to the women his father and uncle and other pastors on staff there molested as “whores and prostitutes” on TV. Later he said he apologized for that, but his apology was made to his congregation, NOT to those he insulted. Typical Paulk!

Thank you for continuing to shine light on the Paulks. There is nothing that they fear more, for their lives and actions to be closely examined.

    • 15 speaking truth March 10, 2009 at 10:21 pm

Don’t think that the Paulk’s have cornered the market on Church Mafia, GaAzalea – every other cult in the ATL (and across the country) excommunicate and demonize those who flee their heresy as well. I’ve been told time after time that “the devil is using” me…even though I use the Word of God to refute these filthy liars.

I guess it’s fitting – these lemmings wouldn’t know the TRUE Word if it sat next to them on the train every morning, so they would not recognize the truth that easily either.

  13. 16 Tony March 21, 2009 at 3:10 am

Traditional Christianity is deeply troubling because of the exceptional dishonesty that it alone holds all of the answers of the divine. The exceptional Lie that the bible is written by God — Newflash it was written by fallible men. The Bble Justifies the enslavement of mankind, the opression of women for starters. To suggest that God wrote it makes God pretty tyrannical. Of course you will rebell against such a progressive declaration. You are oppressed by Bible Architects many of whom didn’t even exist during the time of Christ. Why is Christianity on the decline? in two words: CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIANS, also known as close minded, supersticious, bible literalist who *pretend* the bible was “God-Breathed” instead of written by men, often who had specific agendas.

Free your mind and the rest will follow.

    • 17 speaking truth March 23, 2009 at 1:52 pm

      Tony,

Since you completely reject the authority of scripture as the pure Word of God (and ultimately, God in general, specifically in reference to your view that God is tyrannical), then I won’t refute your comment with scripture.

I’ll refute it with common sense.

First, the bible is a unified work – from Genesis to Revelation. We’re talking about 66 individual books, written on 3 different continents in 3 different languages over a period of approximately 1500 to 2000 years. There were over 40 different authors who came from different walks of life, yet their God-breathed words testify to one another with complete congruency.

Second, their are literally hundreds of detailed prophecies in the bible – specifically relating to the future of Israel (and various other cities and nations), the future of mankind, and to the coming of Jesus as The Christ and Savior of all whom believe. The bible prophecies are detailed and have never failed to come true (not man-made false prophecies, but the Word of God alone). There are over 300 prophecies regarding Jesus Christ in the Old Testament alone (where He would be born and what family He would come from, how He would die and that He would rise again on the third day). It is completely illogical to try and explain away the fulfilled prophecies in the bible – they are of divine origin alone (unlike other religous books).

Finally, the bible is a historical document, who’s accuracy can be aligned with the corresponding history of the time.

On top of all that, the liberating Word of God has set free millins who were in bondage (sexual, drug-related, oppression, and more).

Obviously you were hurt in some way by those who claimed to be religious but had no relationship with God through Jesus Christ. I pray that you cling to Christ – our ONLY hope in these last days (1 Peter 1:2-4). If you chose to continue to reject Him, then the Lords will be done.

    • 18 MKelley March 29, 2009 at 12:02 pm

Maybe you missed the part where God said he shines light on good and bad, or maybe you missed the part in the Bible about judging and the same measure will be measured unto us.

Aren’t we all going to have to carry our own cross?

    • 19 MKelley March 29, 2009 at 12:04 pm

Tony, it is not your mind…

      • 20 speaking truth March 29, 2009 at 11:07 pm

        MKelley,

You accuse people of judging the heretical Paulks (Ear and his Neph-son) – supposedly in relation to the bible’s perspective, yet you cosign on Tony’s comment rejecting “traditional Christianity” and the authority of the bible as the irrefutable Word of God.

        So which is it?

And by the way, we are called to judge.

Perhaps you should sit in a room and listen to the victims of the Paulk nightmare, and then come back and condemn those of us who dare call Paulk out on his ungodly behavior? Even worse, we have the nerve to actually trust God and His Word and use it properly concerning calling out sin.

        Wow.

Why don’t you find another blog that caters to your inconsistent understanding of the Word, because you won’t find that here.

  14. 21 dre March 31, 2009 at 10:41 am

speaking truth you have the right to believe that the Bible is the Word of God…just remember that everyone that doesn’t hold to your belief system isn’t condemned to the pits of hell just because your thinking and indoctrinaton leads you to believe that…

The Bible when properly used can be a useful tool to teach about History and Prophecy, but I fear more Christains use the Bible to find judgment and condemnation, overlooking the weightier matters of
loving their fellow man, seeking out justice, and being merciful…

If God says to love our enemies, how dare you try and blast those that you just don’t agree with…He without sin please cast that first stone…LOL

      dre,

This is a Christian blog using the Word of God to confront false teaching. I completely understand that many do not embrace the bible – or Christianity, but I do. This blog is an extension of my Christian beliefs, and I contend that apart from salvation through Jesus Christ, one is condemned (John 14:6).

I choose to believe God’s Word – if other’s don’t, then the Lords will be done.

  15. 23 dre March 31, 2009 at 2:41 pm

while you embrace the bible and it’s teachings there are contradictions or rather conundrums that arise from the Bible…how can you reconcile your beliefs based upon the Scripture, but not follow all that is written in there to follow…it will never work…people come up with great theories and suppositions to uphold their beleifs while discounting that there may be others who took the same book and found another way…incredible…
thus leaving us with denomination after denom…LOL
btw I respect your views and opinions, it doesn’t mean we will agree always…

Let me reply to you all.
I am a member, well, former member, of a church that was once a satellite of Earl’s back in the 80’s. Our pastor left his original covering, embraced Earl’s teaching, and there the slippery slide began. Our pastor published his own book about divorce (that it was okay) and then went to Earl with wife#2 to discuss their marriage problems. Surprise surprise, Earl said their marriage was pretty much over. So our pastor began meeting my mother clandestinely, and ended up divorcing wife #2 and living with my mom. They have been together for, I don’t know, 21 years now? Mom pretty much abandoned me and the family to go be with him, and she is very much under his thumb. They’ve bought a house together, combined their finances in many ways, pretty much everything short of a marriage. I think my family would fight it if she did marry him because she stands to inherit a good amount of property when my grandfather passes away. Maybe I am being cynical about it all, but I’ve had to live with the lies and compromise for a long time, until I found out the truth. So don’t you ‘don’t judge god will sort it all out we should just be loving’ people say ANYTHING to me or the publisher of this site about not stepping in to call a spade a spade and warn people away from crafty men who are out to exploit vulnerable people. if only some of our friends who left before it all got crazy had told us of their reasons, perhaps my family wouldn’t still be enduring the consequences of the deception and manipulation that was practiced on us.
