More of the (False) Gospel According to John (Alvarado)

Yesterday, I posted part 1 of “Bishop” Johnathon Alvarado’s personal philosophy regarding his affinity for spiritual fatherhood and his perception of the ministerial order of Jesus Christ. I specifically used the term “personal philosophy” because the more I researched scripture to disprove his “sermonette”, the more I realized that his was not an exegesis at all – and it went far beyond an eisegesis.

Yesterday’s post was to show the dangerous teaching that Jesus’ ministry was only legitimized because of His submission to John the Baptist. Alvarado’s advancement of the “ministerial legitimacy only through the anointing of a spiritual father” is clearly illustrated in most charismatic churches operating today – large and small. This contemptible thinking creates strife in the Body by purporting the false teaching that you are ineffective and impotent in ministering the Gospel UNLESS another man “launches you”.

In the previous video I posted, Alvarado clearly stated that you can only hear God through a spiritual covering!

I gathered even more of Alvarado’s interview to post today, and I purposely posted the most egregious example yesterday so that today’s examination will only make you shake your head in pity, as opposed to yesterday’s offering that made you want to “reach out and touch” Alvarado directly:

“You’re NOT anointed UNLESS somebody over you says you’re anointed!”

In this episode of “The False Gospel According to John Alvarado”, we learn of Alvarado’s belief in infant evangelism:

“I started preaching when I was 12…I sat next to Jared Sawyer…y’all put that camera on that handsome young man right there. That young man is 11 years old, he’s a licensed minister, God’s gone use him in tremendous ways…”

So, God can’t use His Son unless and until He submitted to John the Baptist, and He won’t use someone who hasn’t been “launched out” by a pulpit pimp…but an 11 year old kid? Oh, God can use him! Riiiiight.

Jared Sawyer is a child preacher currently popular along the charismatic circuit. Sure, he’s cute in his Easter suit, and he’s an articulate and motivating speaker – but he’s not a pastor. As I wrote in a previous article on the importance of sound expository preaching, what does this child (or any child) know about regeneration and the work of the Holy Spirit in salvation? What does this or any other child preacher know about the doctrine of grace? Can this kid properly exegete the Book of Job and detail the complex posture and pattern of Godly suffering?

Nope. But he sure can sing – and he looks cute standing behind that big ol’ bookboard entertaining the sheep. This is not a personal attack on Jared Sawyer or any other child minister, but I believe that they need mature teachers to nourish the gift of God in them (because they are literally children) until they are able to lead others themselves.

Interestingly, Alvarado next mentions leaders who are “jealous” of those in their care, and how many “spiritual fathers” misuse the leaders under their care, yet he saves his direct ire for those who flee the jealous and abusive “spiritual fathers”!:

“…[Timms: ‘the anointing can get you drunk’]…the first time somebody stands up and says ‘you know I don’t know why they don’t let you preach more often because every time you preach the anointing comes, revelation comes…listen when you go start a church I’m gon go with you…’ the devil is a lie! The anointing never flows from the feet up! The anointing flows from the head down! You’re not anointed unless somebody OVER YOU says you’re anointed”

At least now we see how Alvarado gets his twisted understanding of the ministry of Christ. In Alvarado-land, God only pronounced Jesus’ as His “beloved Son in Whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17) because John the Baptist had already said that Jesus was anointed. Yup, that makes sense…in the false gospel according to John (Alvarado).

So now Timms and Alvarado take an ax to Psalm 133:

“…it came down his head, it didn’t say it ran over his face…it ran over his beard…immature boys don’t grow beards. The anointing only flows over a mature face. Everything that think they anointed [shakes his head no]…anointing comes over a face…that has had time and maturity.”

So why them would Alvarado say this after having just sent a “shout out” to an 11 year old preacher whom he just said was anointed? Now he’s contradicting himself as he goes along!

Psalm 133 is an exposition on brotherly love and unity, not a picture of submission to a spiritual father when “your time” has arrived. Psalm 133 correlates to Psalm 120. Both are “songs of ascents” – literally songs that Jewish pilgrims sang on their way to the 3 great feasts of their culture. Psalm 133 is a plea for spiritual unity (primarily fraternally, or in brotherhood). The oil metaphor is utilized to recognize the priesthood of Aaron, and the subsequent celebration of godly rule over the children of Israel – and it is used in that same reference in Psalm 133 as a plea for unity to replicate the same celebratory atmosphere that occurred during Aaron’s coronation and anointing with oil. It is not an ordinance or sacrament of the faith – necessary to confer “privileges” on someone who is “ready” to lead.

So now, Timms is starting to feel a bit overshadowed by the good Bishop, so he begins to click, twitch, and yell to prove that he too can move the crowd – and Alvarado let’s Timms have his moment…until it’s time to swoop in with more deep revelation about David’s anointing.

Alvarado contends that “immature leaders” must suffer under their maniacal “spiritual fathers” just as David suffered under Saul:

“…David was brought because at various points in Saul’s life and ministry a distressing spirit would come and vex him, and David’s responsibility was to play and minister until Saul got healed. So the question now ‘what do I do if I have a jealous person that’s over me’? I duck the javelins, and I play until they get healed”

So no matter how sick and twisted your “spiritual father” is…no matter how they extort the sheep and you’re left to defend him against your will…no matter how much they beg for money and claim that the church is broke while they live in luxury…no matter how they take sexual advantage of the women (and men) in the church – your job is to stay and “play” (i.e. run cover for them and take their abusive condemnation when you attempt to reason and rebuke according to the Word) until they get healed?

What about fleeing false doctrine – and warning the other sheep on your way out the door – so that the “spiritual father” repents before the Lord for a healing? What about what the Word of God says in Romans 16:17; 2 Thessalonians 3:6; Proverbs 14:7; Titus 1:10-16 and so on? Oh I forgot, in the gospel according to John (Alvarado), the word of man trumps the Word of God, so ignore sound biblical doctrine – just listen to the pimp to whom you’ve submitted…you know, the one who is being vexed by all of those spirits in the first place.

The pimps create an atmosphere of paranoia by declaring you’re not ready to leave them – all the while their behavior becomes more and more troubling – and ungodly – to you. Then, they tell you that they’re protecting you by making you stay under their wicked authority – and that you are a rebellious son of the devil if you dare try to break away.

Then, Alvarado gives a bizarre eisegesis of David, beheading Goliath:

“…David was making sure, that anything that I face in my youth, I don’t want it to come back when I’m an old man. I’m not just gon’ kill it…I’ma…slap somebody high five and say ‘take his head off’…”

Here is the account of David and Goliath’s encounter as it appears in scripture:

1 Samuel 17:49-51 (New American Standard Bible)

49And David put his hand into his bag and took from it a stone and slung it, and struck the Philistine on his forehead. And the stone sank into his forehead, so that he fell on his face to the ground.

50Thus David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and he struck the Philistine and killed him; but there was no sword in David’s hand.

51Then David ran and stood over the Philistine and took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him, and cut off his head with it When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.

David killed Goliath because of Goliath’s blasphemy of the Living God, and David understood that Goliath challenged the Lord, not him, therefore the Lord was with him through his courage (Deuteronomy 31:6; Judges 7:18). This is not a story of victory in “waiting for your turn”, it is an example of God’s ever present protection for His children – and the ability to do the (seemingly) impossible through Him.

Folks, I’m no bible scholar, nor do I possess superior biblical intellect. I read the Word, I research in context, and the pieces of the puzzle fit together from there.

ANYBODY can rightly divide the Word if they sought to do so with the right posture: not for fame, adoration of men, or notoriety, but for the glory of God and for understanding His instructions for your life.

When more people take time to climb through the Word to see if their pastor is telling the WHOLE truth, then we’ll all become “dangerous Christians” – ones who can hear from God directly and challenge the false teachers on their heresy.

Barack “Jesus” Obama Is Courting “Believers”

***hat tip to Independent Conservative for the CNN tip***

“Believers of what”, you might ask?

Obama campaign rolls out new ‘faith merchandise’

(CNN) –The Obama campaign is preparing rolling out a new line of “faith merchandise” – the latest move in an ambitious effort to win over religious voters.

“Check out the Believers for Barack, Pro-Family Pro-Obama, and Catholics for Obama buttons, bumper stickers and signs….” says Obama Deputy Director of Religious Affairs Paul Monteiro in an e-mail obtained by the Beliefnet Web site.

“Believers for Barack rally signs and bumper stickers, along with all Pro-Family Pro-Obama merchandise, are appropriate for people of all faith backgrounds. We’ll soon be rolling out merchandise for other religious groups and denominations, but I wanted to get this out to you without delay,” he adds.

So come on, America! Now that your new “jesus” is aligning the heavens for his ascension to the presidency, you can pick up a few trinkets to show that you’re on board the Messiah-train!

  • Are you a depraved homosexual that refuses to repent for your sins and have instead embraced your “alternative lifestyle” while demanding equal rights?

Don’t worry, Barack new “jesus” will fight for you! (see your pink tee in the graphic above)

  • Have you pledged allegiance to the apostate Roman Catholic Church and the antichrist pope, vowing to submit to the “holy father”, various dead saints, and the “mother church” in Rome?

Well what are you waiting for? Barack new “jesus” (and “devout Catholic” Joe Biden) is your team! (your bumper sticker is in the graphic above)

  • Are you a “believer” in God, Jesus (the real One), Muhammad, Krishna, The Dali Lama, Wiccen, Agnostic, Jewish, and (insert applicable religious off-shoot here)?

Then glory to (insert applicable deity here), because Barack new “jesus” is your man! He’s ecumenical! One day he’s Jewish (why would a “Christ-believing Christian” pray at a monument revered by non-Christ believing Jews?), the next day he’s Hindu Indian and Muslim, later he’s a “committed Christian”(see your placard above, believers).

Don’t worry abortionists, Barack new “jesus” wants you to ride the train with him all the way to Washington too! He doesn’t care about your spiritual development or your restoration after having made a bad decision to kill a child – he just doesn’t want you to be “punished with a baby”.

Some come on, “believers”…keep praying for God to give you a king (1 Samuel 8)!

I’m sure the True and Living God and His Son Jesus Christ don’t mind sharing their glory with Barack new “jesus”, right? 🙄

Like I Said…Todd Bentley Is Demonic!

“Many tender-minded Christians fear to sin against love by daring to inquire into anything that comes wearing the cloak of Christianity and breathing the name of Jesus. They dare not examine the credentials of the latest prophet to hit their town lest they be guilty of rejecting something which may be of God. They timidly remember how the Pharisees refused to accept Christ when He came, and they do not want to be caught in the same snare, so they either reserve judgment or shut their eyes and accept everything without question. This is supposed to indicate a high degree of spirituality. But in sober fact it indicates no such thing. It may indeed be evidence of the absence of the Holy Spirit. – AW Tozer

The quote above from noted theologian AW Tozer succinctly describes the unfortunate posture of Christianity today. In the Apostle John’s epistle recalling the fundamentals of our faith (or calling for a return to the basics of Christianity), he wrote:

1 John 4:1-2 (New American Standard Bible)

1(A)Beloved, do not believe every (B)spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because (C)many false prophets have gone out into the world.

 2By this you know the Spirit of God: (D)every spirit that (E)confesses that (F)Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God;

Unfortunately, many Christians (and those who erroneously think that they are Christians) simply apply the “if it makes me tingle, then it must be the Holy Spirit” model of interpretation when dealing with these demonic charlatans and their revivals see-through shows.

My post yesterday on Todd “the tool of Satan” Bentley pretty much summed up my assessment of Bentley’s ascension from demonic imp to full blown tool of Satan/pulpit pimp. I (along with the entire Christian blogosphere that actually reads and believes the bible) have exposed Todd “the tool of Satan” for some time now, so if you choose to follow him at this point then it is with full knowledge that he IS NOT operating under the authority of the Holy Spirit.

Yet, it’s still good to see more sound biblical study used to refute Todd “the tool of Satan” for those of you who may still be on the fence. Pastor S.E. Ray over at Eternal Path for Seekers of Truth wrote an excellent in-depth article on Bentley – restating some of the fact we’ve already discovered, as well as exposing other interesting facts about “the tool”:

As background information, Todd Bentley is relatively a new Christian with no formal training or experience in the exposition of scripture. His history which includes drugs, criminal activities and he belonged to a sexual molestation activist ring which is well documented and admitted by Todd. Christians realize that a soul can be saved from these things, however he personally claims that he was demon possessed after having been born-again, which poses a problem considering his self-acclaimed position.

So, if you STILL choose to believe a tattooed (after he was saved), demon possessed (afterhe was saved), child molester who assaults people who want his anointing” demonic touch and scares children who DON”T WANT him to touch them, then there’s nothing more to be said to you.

Our hope can ONLY be found in God through Jesus Christ – and his unchanging Word.

Glory To God – Another Sheep Flees!

While we lament as the church slides into unabashed apostasy, those of us who still pray for the deceived can rejoice when the sheep begin to flee false doctrine.

My brother in Christ Independent Conservative posted a story on his blog about the recent epiphany of youtubber Ringo4LIfe:

A Sign of Hope. Ringo, YouTubber Ringo4Life Proclaims the Prosperity Doctrine is a Scam!

…How we once would warn about a guy using the handle “Ringo”. And it was because he was a member of Creflo Augustus Dollar, Junior’s club and would repeat the false doctrines of Creflo.

Well tonight I feel even more comfort about my YouTube account being suspended than I did before. Because I see that the Lord is removing scales from Ringo’s eyes. He’s now speaking openly against the same man he used to admire, Creflo Dollar.

Click the title of the article to read it in it’s entirety, but I’ve posted the same videos here:

Creflo Dollar: Misinformed The Public

If You Don’t Give Money, You Don’t Get None!

Thank God through Jesus Christ that this former member of Creflo’s club stopped defending him and started defending the Gospel that Creflo twisted (and twists) for selfish gain. Folks this is yet another testament of the power of prayer.

As we expose doctrinal error and deceit at the hands of false teachers, pimps, wolves, and vipers, we should still pray for them (that they repent before the Lord) and their followers (that they repent and flee the false doctrine they hear) – ultimately that the Lord’s will be done.

Open Portal To Heaven?

DISCLAIMER: In accordance to Ephesians 6:10-18, please pray before viewing or listening to any of Todd Bentley’s video or audio recordings. The only way to combat the evil of this day is with the unadulterated Word of God.

I found an older video of Todd Bentley describing an “experience” where God shows him an “open portal to heaven”:

Whew. Where do I begin?

  • A pillar of fire that is actually an open portal?
  • Crashing on an “operating table in heaven”?
  • Graphic invasive surgery performed by “angels”?
  • “Stuffed” with little white boxes?
  • God sets an appointment with him for “an hour of power”?
  • “Skiing on the mountain of the Lord”?

I think it’s obvious that Todd Bentley is one strange dude. He begins the video by mentioning the angel with feet like pillars of fire, found in Revelation 10, and later goes on to say how that angel visited him and others in a hotel room.

In the 11th chapter of the 2nd Book of Corinthians, the Apostle Paul found himself defending his apostleship against men who tried to fool the saints by appearing as spirit-filled and knowledgeable about the Lord Jesus Christ as he and his colleagues were. He made an interesting statement while undercutting his impostors (my emphasis in bold):

12But what I am doing I will continue to do, (A)so that I may cut off opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the matter about which they are boasting.

13For such men are (B)false apostles, (C)deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.

14No wonder, for even (D)Satan disguises himself as an (E)angel of light.

15Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, (F)whose end will be according to their deeds. (2 Corinthians 11:12-15)

We are living in a generation where many Christians don’t read and study the Word of God for themselves, so they are taken in and swayed by things that appear to be of God.

It’s “boring” to sit and hear an exposition on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but boy it sure is more fun to laugh uncontrollably, bark like dogs, and participate in all manner of questionable behavior while being “drunk in the spirit” or “under the unction of the Holy Spirit”.

Please know that Satan can disguise himself to appear “holy”, thus deceiving many believers by making them think they’re worshipping God.

I am of the opinion that Todd Bentley uses emotionalism to “preach” a counterfeit gospel that is not of God. I won’t entertain any comments from Todd Bentley’s defenders, and I’m not going to get into a debate about all of the great work he’s done, the people he’s “healed” (as told on many other blogs) and how “God uses him mightily.

I only post this article to warn the sheep to be careful about who you listen to – and to  use the irrefutable Word of God as the measurement that judges the words of anyone who professes to speak on behalf of the Lord.

I ask mature saints to pray that the saints of the Lord Jesus Christ would read and study the Word of God so that they don’t fall away from the faith, and be fooled and taken in by those who appear to be servants of God.

“Attack On The Black Church”?

***UPDATED @ 2:30PM EST***

It looks like J.W. really could inadvertently send Obama back to Chicago to watch the Presidential contest from the sidelines:

Wright to Obama: ‘Coming after you’

By | 4/28/08 11:58 AM EST

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright said Monday that he will try to change national policy by “coming after” Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) if he is elected president.

The pastor also insisted Obama “didn’t denounce” him and “didn’t distance himself” from Wright’s controversial remarks, but “did what politicians do.”

Wright implied Obama still agrees with him by saying: “He had to distance himself, because he’s a politician, from what the media was saying I had said, which was [portrayed as] anti-American.” (click here to read more)

Wow. With “spiritual advisors” like this, who needs Hillary Clinton or John McCain?

I tried to stay away from the Barack Obama/Jeremiah Wright story as long as I could – primarily because this blog is not about politics.

I know Jeremiah Wright well.

Even though I believe that Jeremiah Wright preaches a different gospel (Galatians 1:6-8), I was willing to let him fade into the sunset (in light of his past remarks that have been replayed all over the world in the last few weeks).

Wright, however, has decided that he hasn’t done enough harm to Obama’s candidacy, so he had to re-emerge to “clear his name”. Please note – I’m not writing to endorse Barack Obama.

Wright went before the National Press Club this morning to continue his return to the media spotlight. Here’s an interesting note from the event:

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright says criticism surrounding his fiery sermons is an attack on the black church.

He said the black church tradition is not bombastic or controversial, but different and misunderstood by the “dominant culture” in the United States.

While whites (the group that Wright is calling the “dominant culture”) may not understand the “tradition” of the black church (whatever that means), I believe that Wright is false to equate an attack on his words as an attack on the black church.

He took to the pulpit of the church to denounce America, which is par for the course as it relates to Wrights allegiance to Black Liberation Theology.

This “theology” is a dangerous assault on sound doctrine because it equates black persecution with the persecution of our Lord (my colleague Independent Conservative did an exhaustive point-by-point study of BLT and it’s founder, James Cone).

When Wright is attacked because of his personal opinion, then it is what it is – especially when his controversial philosophy is the basis of the attack.

In that case, Rev., defend yourself…don’t drag the entire “black church” into your squabble.

Since Wright has so aligned his church with the black value system, one would think that he could come up with a more succinct rebuttal than “we’re just misunderstood by the dominant culture”.

Oh, and if Wright is so intent on having God “damn” America, then why is his church building him a million-dollar house in suburban Chicago?

Isn’t that part of the American dream that Wright wants God to damn?

Maybe Wright will be ruminating over the importance of BLT and the black value system as he’s swimming in his new pool, or retiring to the 2nd floor via his elevator.

The bottom line is this – when people call out Jeremiah Wright, they’re doing just that – calling out Jeremiah Wright.

God is Sovereign, and He knows how to care for His Church.

If Eddie Long, Creflo Dollar, Benny Hinn, Peter Popoff and the various other pimps stalking the pulpit can’t destroy the Church, then Wright can’t either.

A false gospel, however, can dangerously continue to try…
