“It’s Just The Truth…”

Paul Washer

Many people mistake my advocacy of sound & sober preaching for the advocacy of passionless and somber teaching.

On the contrary, I believe in passionate preaching – primarily when the preacher is passionately pointing to Christ as the ONLY hope of salvation and AWAY from his own talent and charisma.

One of the most passionate and unyielding defenders of the faith on the mission field today is Paul Washer (you can follow him on Twitter as well). I wrote about Washer’s uncompromised message last spring, and a recent exchange in the comment threads of another post inspired me to post this video of Washer (found at Grace Community Church’s YouTube page):

I know that many of you will comment on how much you disagree with Washer on many things – primarily his Southern Baptist background – and accuse him of being a legalist and much more, but you cannot ignore the merit of his passionate plea for truth and honesty in the pulpit in evangelizing the Gospel.

As sad as it seems, many who are deceived are no longer victims of their deceivers – if they remain under teaching that is in direct opposition to the Gospel then they are aiding and abetting in the apostasy. The lust of the flesh and the desire for the material riches that the vipers have attributed to “gawd” is what keeps many tethered to false churches across the globe. As the Apostle Paul succinctly warned his young protege’ (and Washer repeats in the video):

2 Timothy 4:3-4 (New American Standard Bible)

3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,

4and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.

False teachers feed, nourish, and grow on the lust of their followers. The sheep have essentially created “teachers” based on their selfish desires, attracting wolves to feast on their flesh like a thrashing victim attracts sharks in the ocean.

The only way to combat false teaching is to continue to present the truth of God DIRECTLY from His Word. The more we combat lies with THE TRUTH, the chasm between God and His enemies becomes even more evident.

Air Pimp One

Eddie Long has one.

So does “Apostle” K.C. Price, Creflo Dollar, TD Jakes, Ken Copeland, Benny Hinn, and many other wolves, apostates, heretics, vipers, pulpit pimps and wannabe’s.

The argument goes something like this:

“You know, Apostle Bishop Right Reverend Prophet Joneshas an anointing on his life – and that anointing isn’t on a convenient flight schedule. Apostle Bishop Right Reverend Prophet Jones has been called by God to minister to the nations, and he needs a ministry tool that will catapult him to the forefront of evangelical outreach, thus the need for a private jet”.

The problem, of course, is that these vipers don’t take their jets to Calcutta, India or the jungles of the Philippines to minister the Gospel to those who either (a) haven’t heard it or (b) have rejected it for Islam or another false gospel.

Nope, these wolves (and their families and “sons and daughters in the ministry”) always end up in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or some other tropical (and tourist-friendly locale) in order to “spread the Gospel” (as long as it doesn’t interfere with sun bathing, surfing, exotic dinner excursions, and the like).

You don’t expect these degenerates to fly Delta (even in the 1st class cabin) when they can load up a plane and go anywhere they want to on a whim, do you?

Our brother bezel333 reports on the latest happenings of the supreme airbone pimp Benny Hinn (Benny was flying in private planes while most of these pimps were still being tooled around in Rolls-Royce’s). It looks like old Benny needs a little more cheddar to upgrade his Air Pimp One – and pay for the rising cost of fuel to minister to the nations blow on people and expect them to fall over:

Attention: Benny Hinn Needs Money for Jet Fuel:

Now come on people, you don’t want old Benny to “plummet from the sky” in an “unsafe aircraft” (i.e. last year’s model), now do you? You know the drill – pay the Prophet Profit and he’ll make sure to put in a good word with God on your behalf.

Benny won’t give you a shout-out to God if you keep him in an “old” corporate jet!

These vipers have escalated the pimp game to a level that is unprecedented. Soon, they’ll be able to shake-you down like any other street-corner hustler instead of wrapping their “game” in religious jargon.

And sadly, the sheep will still throw hard-earned money at their feet.

Hebrews 13:5 (New American Standard Bible)

5Make sure that your character is (A)free from the love of money, (B)being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “(C)I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,”

Instead of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and reminding the sheep that the gift of salvation and right relationship with God through Jesus Christ trumps any financial reward that we can gain, old Benny keeps parroting the tired “you gotta pay to play” line.

And of course, it all starts with paying him.

Pray that Benny Hinn and his ilk repent before the Lord for their heresy before it’s too late for them. Either way, pray that the Lord’s will be done – and that the sheep avoid Benny and crew.

A Sorely Needed Call For Discernment

***hat tip to reader Caron for introducing me to Justin Peters’ ministry***

Justin Peters is a Mississippi-based minister who presents a seminar entitled “A Call For Discernment”. In the seminar, Justin succinctly debunks the “trifecta” of the Word of Faith (WOF) heresy:

  1. You can “speak those things that be not” and they will magically appear
  2. We are all “little gods” and can do what God does
  3. The heartbreaking reality of how people are taken in by phony faith healers

Below are 4 videos (about 34 minutes total) of Justin addressing students at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary – his alma mater – a few years ago. Sitting at a lectern (as the result of his cerebral palsy), Justin quietly and calmy takes great detail to warn the students about the dangers of those who preach “a different gospel”.

“A Call For Discernment” – Part 1 [8:07]

“A Call For Discernment” – Part 2 [9:58]

“A Call For Discernment” – Part 3 [9:14]

“A Call For Discernment” – Part 4 [5:16]

Pray that the Lord would continue to use Justin and others like Him to shine the light of truth on the dark apostasy and heresy that grips Christ’s church today…

Todd Bentley’s Impartations…

DISCLAIMER: In accordance to Ephesians 6:10-18, please pray before viewing or listening to any of Todd Bentley’s video or audio recordings. The only way to combat the evil of this day is with the unadulterated Word of God.

<———————————————>

I’ve already expressed my opinion of Todd Bentley, his “angelic visions”, and his colleagues.

I direct your attention to an excellent article written by our sister Lavrai over at her blog entitled “Todd Bentley Imparts Antichrist Spirit”.

Lavrai takes an exhaustively biblical look at Bentley and his “impartations” – or his habit of blowing on people to “impart” a “spirit” into them”. Bentley is not alone in this practice.

Bentley, Benny Hinn and other “faith healers” like to blow on their victims visitors in order to aid in their “slaying in the spirit”.

As we see more of 2 Thessalonians 2:3-10 playing out before our eyes, please continue to pray earnestly that the saints would stand firm on God’s Word.

Pray for repentance for those who accept these false signs and wonders – and their return to the irrefutable truth of God through Jesus Christ alone.

Biblical Teaching Vs. Motivational Speaking

Many of the saints are deceived by charismatic and theatrical preaching because it tickles the ear and satisfies our desire to be entertained.

I’m of the firm belief that many folks enjoy watching their pastor hoop, sing a bible verse, prance back and forth across the stage, and lay hands on people on Sunday mornings or Wednesday evenings.

“My pastor sure can preach” or “Bishop Jones is a bible teacher!”, they’ll say to their friends and coworkers while encouraging them to visit their church.

In reality, if your pastor relies on theatrics, philosophical illustrations, or the “Holy Spirit” to “fall” during service so that he “can’t even preach because the glory is so heavy” – then he neither teaches OR preaches…he entertains.

Many people are even deceived by the “easy going” and “welcoming demeanor” or Rick Warren and Joel Osteen. These guys barely ruffle a feather when they preach, but they sure do reel you in by “motivating” you to live your “best life now” or be driven by your “purpose”.

The tragedy is that the sheep have been entertained & “motivated” for so long (many for most of their lives), that they would consider expository preaching to be “too boring”.

Here’s an accurate description of expository preaching from Wikipedia:

Expository preaching differs from topical preaching in that the former concentrates on a specific text and discusses topics covered therein, whereas the latter concentrates on a specific topic and references texts covering the topic.

In other words, many pastors eisegete the Word of God instead of properly exegeting it.

The video below does a great job of explaining the basis of sound bible teaching, and how far the pimps have strayed (and stayed) away from it by only quoting a scripture to use it as a basis to preach their personal philosophy:

Some of the voices you hear in the audio portion of the video are (surprise) Kenneth Copeland, Benny Hinn, and Fred Price.

Yet another reason to study the Word of God for yourself and avoid wolves, pimps, and hustlers who attempt to misuse His Holy Word to fleece you.

***hat tip to Real Christianity for the video***
