Wanna Marry A “Bishop”?

Sometimes, these articles just write themselves:

Bishop Weeks looking for a new wife after Bynum

…Bishop Thomas W. Weeks III, head of Duluth-based Global Destiny International Ministries, wants a new wife to mend his broken heart. And he’s skipping the usual path to romance: chance meetings, singles mixers, social networking, speeding dating, fix-ups. He is seeking advice from his followers. Weeks will document his effort to open his heart to love again in 10 streaming video “Webisodes” starting next Tuesday on his Web site www.bishopweeks.com.

…Weeks says he hopes to wed again someday. His Webisodes won’t be an open call for a wife like typical reality dating shows. But if women send love letters — they will likely be shared. As for his standards, Weeks says the next Mrs. Weeks “can’t be ugly. She has to be easy on the eyes.”

/scratching my head in utter amazement/

I’m at a loss for words on this one, so feel free to chime in.

    Wowee.

So…it would appear that barrel Weeks continues to scrape has no bottom.

  2. 2 Cici September 19, 2008 at 3:45 pm

    *absolutely speechless*

Brother K put it better than I could have, LOL!

Breathtaking… I hope no one falls for it! How insulting is that, ” a new wife to mend his broken heart”. So a new wife is a band-aid now?

    Wrong on so many levels.

  4. 4 naturalsystah September 19, 2008 at 5:12 pm

    From the link:

“The idea came after Weeks was flooded with thousands of e-mails and letters from people offering advice about what to look for in his third wife. Some even offered to be his wife.”

If that is true, what is wrong with these women? Do they want to get beaten up too?! Craziness!

  5. 5 speaking truth September 19, 2008 at 5:42 pm

We know how staid and stoic Christians are across the pond, naturalsystah ( 😆 ), but we can get a bit goofy over here when it comes to “mend of Gawd”.

Okay, has anyone heard if hell has really frozen over yet? Has anyone actually seen pigs flying through the air (with or without lipstick)? Surely the sky has fallen on somebody’s house? If none of these things have happened yet, why is this clown looking for a wife and how mentally deranged does a sister have to be to want to wed this zero? I know sometimes life can be lonely for a single sister(been there, done that), but come on now – get a hobby; get a life; get something besides BTW III. You couldn’t throw this loser on me and make him stick. Lord, help your people!!! Why are there still people sitting in this man’s congregation? Can’t they see that the patient is running the asylum? I’m through – I’m just too through!

Any woman who, of her own volition, chooses to marry that man needs their head examining…thoroughly

I am not surprised. I expect nothing better from him or his ex-wife. It would be a pleasant surprise to hear that, he or she, or both of them, have repented, turned from their wicked ways and choose to spend the rest of their days quietly seeking and serving the Lord. However we are stucked with their constant display of folly. I wonder what she will come with next. Nothing that they do, bar true repentance and turning away from being pulpit pimps will surprise me.

Man, you’re quick. I read about this trash at work, rushed home and there you are. Nicely done, sir.

Oh, hilarious post. Funny because this isn’t schtick. He’s serious! And that “easy on the eyes” comment… well, I’ll repeat this on the Wall, but it begs repeating.

Would that be for before or AFTER he beats her face into minced meat, as he did with Juanita?! Just askin’

The cliches that keep coming up this week w/ me: a dog chasing his own tail, or a headless chicken… that’s probably how most of us look to the LORD.

ST – I’m sure Douglas will agree with me that there’s a LOT of goofiness here. After all, this is the home of the Church of England, John Francis and many more 😉

It seems like he’s just given up on God, himself, and life, and has conformed to this world (more money). Wow! I hope too many souls that followed him want slide backwards as he’s doing. Not to say reality TV is bad, it just is from his posiiton in life and how he’s going about it. My prayers go out to him.

    I am feeling a bit nauseous right now . . .

  14. 14 Independent Conservative September 20, 2008 at 9:05 pm

Pattycakes – You said Weeks is sliding backwards. I contend he was always there. Can you show me a time when he was not a man promoting heresy?

  15. 15 Pattycakes September 20, 2008 at 10:17 pm

Dude you are really on my case aren’t ya!

  16. 16 Pat September 20, 2008 at 11:37 pm

Jesus be a fence all around me everyday-I ask you to protect me as I travel along this way–My God say it is not so but people subscribe to this nonsense he did not learn his lesson. Yo dude, take a chill pill go to Bangladesh commune with Jesus and the rest of must get right church let’s go home.

  17. 17 Kyle September 21, 2008 at 1:11 am

    PattyCakes,

in all honesty IC is correct. The Prosperity Gospel is a sham at best, heresy at worst. Bishop (so-called) Weaks (Emphasis Mine) teaches the same heresy that TBN preaches.

Goofiness in the UK? It’s the home of the “24 Hour Miracle” scam, John Francis, liberal Anglicanism, and lot of other weirdness. Definitely weird…

  19. 19 naturalsystah September 21, 2008 at 3:22 pm

Amen Douglas! Plenty of UK goofiness both on TV and in quite a few churches I know of in London…

I wonder though if Christian TV will run with Weaks’ wife-hunt? Word Network, perhaps?

Please tell me this is a joke. These cats are funny.

    So Bishop wants a new wife huh? Let’s see . . .

He brings EMBARASSMENT to the Body of Christ by
    (1) LYING to the world about his wedding to Juanita; they were married before the $1M+ wedding.
    (2) LYING about his marriage; they were in trouble from the get-go yet sponsored marriage seminars and charged elaborat fees.
    (3) LYING about that night; I believe the emotional/physical abuse went both ways, but he eventually confessed to beating his wife.

It seems the problem LIED with him . . .
    (1) He had no backbone as a man to wait to get to know Juanita better before marrying her.
    (2) He was a a punk bridegroom by allowing Juanita to plan such an elaborate wedding all the while deceiving the public that they were married. Come on people, if you knew a couple was married, would you even go to the wedding?
    (3) He was spineless as a husband by allowing his wife to travel the world on HER ministry instead of building the local assembly TOGETHER.
    (4) He was driven by greed (aka love of money) by giving marriage conferences when their marriage was a fake.
    (5) He is selfish and self-centered by pointing the finger on Juanita, not evaluating where he went wrong in the marriage. Does ‘anger management’ mean anything?

The problem with Juanita was her HEAD (husband) was messed up.
(Hey, Juanita is not innocent in this matter. It takes two and both were responsible in the failure of their marriage.)

But what is so sad is the number of women who are willing to step in and be WIFE #3. Oh well, when that marriage fails, I won’t feel sorry for her. After all, the man is consistent.

  22. 22 pookie September 24, 2008 at 5:57 pm

This is the man responsible for the beat down heard around the world- Why do we still even acknowledge him as a bishop? If he ever did fit the biblical criteria…he absolutely does not anymore?

  23. 23 GaryV September 27, 2008 at 1:43 pm

I know he said she had to be “easy on the eyes”, but what about the other qualifications Weeks demands in his videos?? For example……

“Must like being cursed at in bed.”

  24. 24 speaking truth September 27, 2008 at 9:12 pm

    GaryV,

Don’t forget that the new “Mrs. Weeks” must like effiminate men who wear bowties and are drawn to TV cameras…

  25. 25 Meg October 2, 2008 at 4:51 pm

What’s wrong wiht this dude!!!? This guy is a NUTHEAD!!!!!

  26. 26 Meg October 2, 2008 at 4:58 pm

Ladies, If you wanted to met this man, DON’T!!! He has a history of beating women and promoting heresy!!! DON’T MARRY HIM!!!!!

  27. 27 speaking truth October 2, 2008 at 6:04 pm

Very simple yet profound statement Meg – Tommy Weeks is a “nuthead” 😆

No need to waste time warning any woman who reads this blog – Tommy’s supporters don’t come around here much…
