“I Acknowledge My Sin To You…”

…And my iniquity I did not hide; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD”; And You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah. (Psalm 32:5 NASB)

In light of my recent exploration of the “new” Eddie Long, I thought it would be good to take a moment to look at what our proper response to sin should be.

In my opinion (in accordance with God’s Word), Eddie Long should have met with a group of homosexuals if the purpose was to preach salvation through Jesus Christ and repentance of homosexual sin. He should not have met with that same group if their intention was to continue to reject the message of salvation through Christ for the remission of sin – and to get him to see their point of view.

As I stated in my previous post – sin is sin, and it separates us from God…but it doesn’t have to stay that way.

As Christians, we’ll still continue to sin until we physically abandon our flesh (through natural death). However, we still have the indwelling Holy Spirit that leads us to confess and repent (or turn away) from our sin, and return to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father.

But some of us just don’t want to admit that we’ve sinned.

Our brother Mark @ ProclaimHisWord reminds us of God’s forgiveness through his exegesis of Luke 15:11-32 (Jesus’ parable about the prodigal son):

Groups like Soulforce – and any other unrepentant sinner – should acknowledge the chasm that will remain between them and God unless and until they repent of their sin and return to Him.

1 John 1:9 (NASB) tells us that:

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

He is faithful and righteous to forgive, if we seek forgiveness from Him.

If we’re too prideful to even admit that we’re wrong, then, well…we’ll stay out in the pigpen.

Imspeakingtruth, acknowledging sin is the crux of the problem within the Gay “Christian” movement. Every gay I’ve spoken to refuses to admit that homosexuality is sin, which is why they resort to claiming “problems” within the bible. If the bible can be declared untrue, they feel their lifestyle will then be held acceptable to their own made up God.

But the fact that a pastor could resort to supporting “sin” clearly laid out as such in the bible, says a lot about what that pastor believes about the Word of God. If the homosexual can convince a pastor that it’s really not sin then what other sin could be justified?

My mother and sister were members of Eddie Long’s church but they didn’t stay in it too long! I’m so glad they didn’t.

My prayers go out to these pastors that are weakening to the political correctness of our country. Prayer for them to remember to please GOD and not man! Prayer for the homosexual to acknowledge their sin and seek forgiveness!

    Welcome Carlotta.

First, I’m glad that your family escaped “Club New Birth”, especially as it’s continuing to slip into full-throttled apostacy.

Your comment is the reason that I wrote this article – the first step in repentance is acknowledging the sin. We can’t settle into our sin and try to make God (or man) approve of it. The very fact that anyone (gay, straight) would attempt to argue with the God-breathed Word shows how depraved man really is.

I can’t help but to think about Elijah’s declaration on Mt. Carmel – if God be God, then follow Him. If Baal be god, follow Him. (1 Kings 18:21). We’re now living in an age where not only are the people remaining silent & following Baal, but the preachers are “aiding and abetting”.
