When Pimps Won’t Fade Away

Since Juanita Bynum had to grace us with her presence again last week, her soon-to-be-former hubby Tommy Weeks just couldn’t resist slinking out of the pulpit to launch his new book detailing how HE was abused during his marriage to profitess (pun intended) Bynum:

Televangelist’s estranged husband claims abuse in new book

updated 11:06 a.m. ET, Tues., April. 29, 2008

ATLANTA – The estranged husband of evangelist Juanita Bynum says in a new book that she has tried to use a highly publicized physical altercation to revive her own flagging ministry.

The self-published book by minister Thomas Weeks III includes chapters with titles such as “I Would Rather Push You Now Than Punch You Later” and “She Wanted to Be Oprah at Any Cost” and says it was Weeks who suffered physical and emotional abuse in the relationship.

In the 153-page “What Love Taught Me,” Weeks says the Aug. 21 dispute was nothing more than a continuation of the “heated fellowship” the two ministers engaged in during their marriage. (click here to read the story)

Here are a few choice nuggets from the mouth of “the bishop”:

“Ultimately, she had to have a plot and a plan to destroy my credibility, to leak issues that were in the process of being resolved … so that she could get out of the marriage almost blameless,” he wrote.

And, also:

“She needed a way out of the marriage so that she could keep her following, possibly grow her following … develop a cause that can support her without preaching and promote her secular career, while ending her marriage,” Weeks wrote. “Juanita was tired of preaching. She was tired of the conference circuit. She was more bored.”

I could pretend to be shocked but that would be a lie. If you are a follower of Tommy or Juanita and you still believe they have any credibility to evangelize the Gospel, then you need to lay before the Lord in prayer.

As a reminder, here are a few qualifications for church leadership:

Qualifications of Elders

5For this reason I left you in (T)Crete, that you would set in order what remains and (U)appoint (V)elders in every city as I directed you,

6namely, (W)if any man is above reproach, the (X)husband of one wife, having children who believe, not accused of (Y)dissipation or (Z)rebellion.

7For the (AA)overseer must be above reproach as (AB)God’s steward, not (AC)self-willed, not quick-tempered, not (AD)addicted to wine, not pugnacious, (AE)not fond of sordid gain,

8but (AF)hospitable, (AG)loving what is good, sensible, just, devout, self-controlled,

9(AH)holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in (AI)sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict.

10(AJ)For there are many (AK)rebellious men, (AL)empty talkers and deceivers, especially (AM)those of the circumcision,

11who must be silenced because they are upsetting (AN)whole families, teaching (AO)things they should not teach (AP)for the sake of sordid gain. (Titus 1:5-11)

And, here is what Juanita and Tommy represent:

15(AX)To the pure, all things are pure; but (AY)to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their (AZ)mind and their conscience are defiled.

16(BA)They profess to know God, but by their deeds they (BB)deny Him, being (BC)detestable and (BD)disobedient and (BE)worthless (BF)for any good deed. (Titus 1:15-16)

God can and does use anyone that He wants to – that’s His Sovereign Will.

And He is using Juanita and Tommy…by exposing them as false teachers and making it even more evident that they don’t represent Him.

They profess to know Him, yet act in entirely contradictory ways.

Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ that these two vipers are becoming more and more transparent every day.

When will they ever stop but as you said, the more they speak, the more they will be exposed for who they are

Didn’t he say that he wouldn’t release that book? Money calls…and the Pulpit Pimps comes a-running!

He did Doug, but he (like his soon to be former wife) is an opportunistic profiteer, so we should expect this nonsense.

The only thing that would really surprise me is if Tommy were to sit down, get sound biblical counseling, resign his “bishophood” (if that’s the word for it) since he’ll be unqualified to serve as a bishop after the divorce 🙄 , commit himself to sharing the REAL WORD OF GOD, and come back to teach a Sunday school class.

But hey, a man can dream…

What – resign and miss out on big bucks??? I believe that with God all things are possible so who knows?

Well ST..I am praying these two will “fade to black” and sit the heck down. I just had to say something about this “hot mess!”
