When A Pimp Pleads Guilty (*updated 6/17/08*)…

***UPDATED JUNE 17, 2008***
It looks like Pimp Ronny has pled guilty to federal charges of money laundering and wire fraud. By admitting his guilt, Pimp Ronny’s original plea deal has been voided and he could spend up to 80 years in federal prison.

I hope he doesn’t “start a church” while in the pen…but at least they’d “correct his behavior” if he tries to fleece his fellow inmates.

***UPDATED MARCH 31, 2008***

It seems as though pimp pastor Ronny still has a job (at least on paper) at the church he stole from:

Will church fire Sailor as pastor? Members to decide on status of disgraced legislator

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 03/31/08

The 200-member Greater New Light Missionary Baptist Church worshipped with a spirit of resolve and unity Sunday as it prepared to decide Monday whether to fire its pastor and former state lawmaker, Ron Sailor Jr.

A special meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the southwest Atlanta church, where congregants are still reeling from their recent discovery that Sailor secretly took out a $250,000 mortgage on the 2540 Campbellton Road property just days before pleading guilty in federal court to money laundering. (click here to read the rest)
Do you mean he wasn’t fired after they found out that he stole from them? One of the associate ministers made an interesting point:

“The church is going on …,” continued Boyd, an associate minister. “We need to stop pointing fingers at one another. We need to stay together.”

No, in this case it’s OK to point the finger at the pimp who got you into this mess. I agree, you can’t sulk about it forever, but you have to at least admit that your degenerate (soon to be former) pimp of a pastor dragged you and the rest of the congregation into this mess.

ORIGINAL POST – March 28, 2008

Until several weeks ago, Ron Sailor Jr. was a member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing the 61st district. I guess Ronny  wasn’t too satisfied with his state salary, so in December he decided that it would be more profitable to launder money for a drug dealer to make a little cash on the side.

Unfortunately for Ronny, his “drug dealer” was really an undercover Federal agent. Ronny folded faster than a cheap deck of cards, so he quickly admitted his guilt. Ronny also pled guilty to accepting $80,000 from a lobbyist to push legislation through the House of Representatives.

At this point you might be wondering “why is Ron Sailor so important, and how is he a pimp”?

Well folks…(drum-roll please)…Ron Sailor Jr. is also the Right Reverend Ron Sailor, Pastor of The Greater New Light Missionary Baptist Church here in Atlanta.

Not content with just embarassing the people in his congressional district and his family (his father is Ron Sailor Sr., Pastor of Christ the King Baptist Church in north Georgia), Pastor Ronny thought he should embarrass the members of his flock as well:

CHURCH: Sailor Robbed His Flock

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 03/27/08

Days before pleading guilty to money laundering earlier this month, former legislator Ron Sailor Jr. secretly took out a $250,000 mortgage on the southwest Atlanta church where he was pastor.

The congregation had no idea what he had done, church leaders say. Now, they say they have no idea where the money is.The deacons of Greater New Light Missionary Baptist Church were scrambling Thursday to piece together what happened and just who was the minister they thought they knew. “It’s amazing to all of us,” said Jimmie Evans, chairman of the board of deacons. “We can’t believe it.”

Sailor resigned his legislative post after pleading guilty March 18 in federal court. Gov. Sonny Perdue on Thursday called a May 13 election to fill the seat, which represents sections of DeKalb and Rockdale counties.

A church trustee began checking records Tuesday after The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Sailor had accepted at least $80,000 from a lobbyist in a 2007 land transaction, Evans said. (click here to read the entire article)

Ron Sailor Jr is a despicable, desperate, degenerate pulpit pimp because he stole money from the members of his congregation AND he attempted to launder supposed drug money AND he took money from a lobbyist. This church isn’t nestled in any of the affluent suburbs that surround Metropolitan Atlanta. This is an economically-challenged inner city community.

I’m sure Pastor Ronny’s sheep could’ve found better ways to spend their money than to pay off a mortgage that a convicted thief took out without their knowledge.

When reading the article, a few things lept out at me:

The board soon learned Sailor had secretly changed church bylaws to make himself chief executive officer, Evans said.

They also found Sailor had borrowed $250,000 using the church’s buildings and 2.5-acre property as collateral. Fulton County tax assessors value the property at 2540 Campbellton Road at $369,200.

What else would you expect from a degenerate pimp.

“The deacons are shocked at the existence of this security deed and we are moving forward with our investigation,” he said. “We will help the church in any way we can.”

Evans, sighing repeatedly during an interview, said everyone in the church thought Sailor was a great pastor prior to the recent revelations. Sailor, who holds a masters in divinity from Howard University, delivered heartfelt sermons and regularly lead Bible studies with church members, Evans said.

The deacons didn’t even know there was a security deed? I believe it. These days, pastors believe in absolute power – they don’t want to answer to anyone – so what else would you expect? I wouldn’t be surprised if the deacons find more as they dig for the truth.

Also, he was a great pastor because he got a degree from Howard and delivered heartfelt sermons? C’mon people. We’ve got to require more from a shepherd than just smooth talking and charisma. These pimps are preying on you like wolves and you think they’re great just because they speak well when they rob you?

Here’s what trusting a “great man” will get you:

5 Thus says the LORD:

“ Cursed is the man who trusts in man
      And makes flesh his strength,
Whose heart departs from the LORD.
6 For he shall be like a shrub in the desert,
And shall not see when good comes,
But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness,
In a salt land which is not inhabited. (Jeremiah 17:5-6 NKJV)

I’m not saying that Pastor Ronny’s flock knew that he was a crooked pimp. The article states that he hid things pretty well, so only through Godly discernment could they have detected that something wasn’t right. Even the pimps friends and the former pastor (who the article said left the flock in Pastor Ronny’s hands to serve in Iraq) was completely surprised by these revelations.

Pastor Ronny is going to jail, hopefully for a long time. I ask that we all pray for the members of Greater New Light Missionary Baptist Church – the sheep that the lying crooked pimp Pastor Ronny is leaving behind to clean up his mess.

As they seek a new shepherd, let’s pray that the Lord would give them discernment to never be in this position again. If you’re a member of Greater New Light, then read the admonition that the Apostle Peter gave to his fellow elders, and make sure you look for the warning signs in your next pastor:

1(A)Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your (B)fellow elder and (C)witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a (D)partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed,

 2shepherd (E)the flock of God among you, exercising oversight (F)not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and (G)not for sordid gain, but with eagerness;

3nor yet as (H)lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be (I)examples to the flock.

4And when the Chief (J)Shepherd appears, you will receive the (K)unfading (L)crown of glory. (1 Peter 5:1-4)

And don’t worry, your degenerate former pimp will get what’s coming to him:

12 These false teachers are like unthinking animals, creatures of instinct, born to be caught and destroyed. They scoff at things they do not understand, and like animals, they will be destroyed.

13 Their destruction is their reward for the harm they have done. They love to indulge in evil pleasures in broad daylight. They are a disgrace and a stain among you. They delight in deception[a] even as they eat with you in your fellowship meals.

14 They commit adultery with their eyes, and their desire for sin is never satisfied. They lure unstable people into sin, and they are well trained in greed. They live under God’s curse.

15They have wandered off the right road and followed the footsteps of Balaam son of Beor,[b]who loved to earn money by doing wrong. (2 Peter 2:12-15 NLT)

I am sorry for what happen to that church family. Do we think that a person with a degree from some big name college that they are save and Holy Ghost fill? Were the pew setters older americans? Because I can’t see how he got the property from under the church without some noticing.

Why would you want to steal from people who are struggling? You know that most of them believe in giving God His 10%. Too me this is a top notch pimp he took it to another level.

Were the pew setters older americans? Because I can’t see how he got the property from under the church without some noticing.

The article stated that he had the church bylaws changed so that he became the chief executive officer.

When a pastor makes himself the sole authority in the church (even greater than God, in his own twisted mind), then there are no checks and balances, so he does whatever he wants to do.

Why would you want to steal from people who are struggling? You know that most of them believe in giving God His 10%.

A degenerate crooked pimp would steal from people who are struggling. And unfortunately, he probably beat them into submission by dragging them into bondage through the “tithe”, so they probably truly believed that they were giving their money to God himself.

Sailor will get his, but unfortunately his former parishoners are going to suffer for a while as well…

I was supposed to debate this guy on CNN when we were having the gay marriage wars here in Georgia. He was supporting it.

Unfortunately, the segment was cancelled due to breaking news of a B-more harbor boating accident.

Im glad to hear that he has come to his end. Maybe in prison he will truly submit his life to the Lord.

    Amen GCMW –

As much as I despise pimping for God, I believe that NO ONE is too far for God’s redemption.

Maybe this rock bottom experience will produce true repentence and deliverance in Sailor.

I saw the CNN gig on your blog but I didn’t know that Ronny was invoved – and that he supported gay marriage 😦

  5. 5 gcmwatch March 29, 2008 at 8:38 pm

Let me correct myself. After reviewing a few articles, it appears Sailor was against gay marriage, but also against the constitutional amendment we were trying to get passed in GA.

I was going on the argue the amendment was needed because DOMA was weak and could easily be struck down by a judge sympathetic to the gay cause.

Sailor was to argue that the amendment was just GWB politics devised to divide black folk.

I appreciate you coming back to “set the record”.

I think that what this man did was terrible, and yet all too common in the church. That said, when these things do happen I think it is a wake up call to all of us who are of the family of faith. The question is, who are we looking to? Is Jesus really at the center of our lives and churches. If Christ is at the center of our lives then we must see this from his perspective. Do you think Christ was surprised at what happened? If not, then do you think there were warnings and indications from the Spirit as to what was going on? I think the answers to these questions are obvious. Therefore, to me this is a word to us not to the pastor that commited these crimes. The pastor knew what he was doing so God will take care of him. Let’s face it, neither you nor I know what was going on deep within him to make him do these things. Oh sure, we can all say that it was greed, lust. etc. But remember, greed or lust are not the root causes of his sin. Greed and lust for sure are sins, BUT THEY ARE NOT THE ROOT CAUSE OF HIS ACTIONS! Unless you are a christain psychologist, a wise counselor, or pastor with off the hook discernment you don’t know what was driving his sin. So, let’s leave him to his maker. I believe the word is for us to remember to PLACE JESUS at the forefront of everything we do, as we do this he will begin to transform our lives by renewing our minds with his truth as the scripture says. Then and ONLY then can we discern the good, acceptable and perfect will of God. Otherwise, like the world we will grope in darkness trying to figure things out. And end up making the sinner (in this case the pastor) the subject. And once again the church will have missed the point!

    @ JOWLG:

Fisrt, thanks for stopping by and commenting on the story. I agree that it’s a wake-up call whenever someone of the faith falls into sin. Christ is and should always be the focus of our attention, but I’d like to address some of your specific points:

Let’s face it, neither you nor I know what was going on deep within him to make him do these things. Oh sure, we can all say that it was greed, lust. etc. But remember, greed or lust are not the root causes of his sin. Greed and lust for sure are sins, BUT THEY ARE NOT THE ROOT CAUSE OF HIS ACTIONS!

Ronny let us all know what was going on “inside of him” by acting the way that he did. I don’t care if greed or lust are/aren’t the root causes of his sins. The people of his former congregation have to pay for his actions, and I’m sure they don’t care what the root cause was or wasn’t either.

Unless you are a christain psychologist, a wise counselor, or pastor with off the hook discernment you don’t know what was driving his sin.

I was submitted to two pulpit pimps for the last 11 years, so I’m not a psychologist and my discernment wasn’t “off the hook”. Like many of Ronny’s former congregation, I was taken in by my former pimps eloquence and their charisma. Once I broke away from them and decided to study God’s Word for myself, I realized how far off the mark I was and I had to repent for my participation in the “show” as well.

The lust of the flesh was driving Ronny’s sin. Greed was driving Ronny’s sin. Paul warned the church at Acts about being watchful for wolves after he left them (Acts 20:28-30), and Ronny is quite simply a wolf. Peter also warned us to be careful of those who will try to exploit us with false words (2 Peter 2:2-4).

I am leaving Ronny to his Maker, I’m just exposing him as a degenerate wolf of a pimp.

I’m also doing what I can to expose despicable pulpit pimps to the light of day so that the sheep have a fighting chance against them and will avoid them at all costs.

It’s because of my unwavering love for The Lord Jesus Christ and my experiences under the bondage of pimps that I blog. Am I passionate? I sure am.

I’m also not blind to their schemes, and I’ll expose it as long as the Lord wills.

    Hello, Speaking Truth:

First time visitor and am enjoying your site, ST.

I would like to direct a comment to JOWLG:
I might have missed this had it not been for your bold proclamation: “Greed and lust for sure are sins, BUT THEY ARE NOT THE ROOT CAUSE OF HIS ACTIONS!

You might want to rethink your assertion based on this nugget from Scripture.

James 1:14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.
James 1:15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.

Sounds like lust is a root cause of sin.

    In Christian love,
    Peter

  11. 11 Speaking Truth April 2, 2008 at 9:36 am

Thanks for adding the nugget on James 1:14-15 dickkopf.

It is important to note what sin births in our lives, and another reminder to flee sin at every opportunity because of the death that it produces.

At the end of the day, we must pray that Ronny and others like him return to their First Love because that’s the most important thing 🙂
