Like Son, Like Father?

I know, generally you hear the phrase “like father, like son”. But it’s truly the reverse when you look at Super (soon to be Alpha) pimp Eddie Long and his “spiritual son” (and well trained pimp) Andre Landers.

You see, Eddie’s got a new money making scheme “sowing opportunity” that he’s making available to the hard working men and women of God, and it’s called “Beyond Tomorrow”. Eddie says:

“Beyond Tomorrow is our opportunity to take ownership of the future. God is moving us out of our comfort zone to expand the impact and influence of our ministry. Now is the time to respond with faith, obedience, and sacrifice”.

Ahh, sacrifice. I knew that was coming. “Sacrifice what” you ask? Well, Eddie says:

“A sacrificial financial commitment is one that will affect your lifestyle. It will cost you something! This is a two year commitment, therefore I encourage you to join me…”

There you have it – Eddie wants your money. Again. New Birth Missionary Baptist Church of Lithonia, GA claims to be a worldwide ministry that affects the lives of millions around the globe. Over thirty thousand members claim membership to the church, and each of them pay tithes, offering, love offering, etc. ON A WEEKLY BASIS.

So, why would Eddie be asking you and me for MORE MONEY to do “Kingdom work”? What is he doing with the millions that pass through his hands every year? Wait – that question was answered several years ago. Moving on…

Eddie goes on to ask you for a “first fruit” offering, then a two year commitment to aid in his “Kingdom work”. Our friend Independent Conservative already exposed the “first fruit” scam,  so remember that this “offering” GOES DIRECTLY TO THE PASTOR.

I carefully reviewed the “commitment card”, and I suddenly remember that I had seen this before. Andre Landers, pastor of New Birth South Metropolitan Church (now Higher Living Christian Church) of Hampton, GA (Eddie’s “son”, remember?) did the same thing when he was building his $22 million dollar church a few years ago (the church opened a month ago, and has been losing money since they unlocked the doors).

As I’ve said before – as a point of full disclosure, I was “submitted” to pimp Landers in ordained ministry for several years before I repented before the Lord and fled his assembly while I still had my dignity.

What Long and Landers don’t advertise, however, is that they also share the same philosophy regarding benevolence for their members in need.  I speak as someone who worked in benevolence and saw this first hand: members in need were only given $300 ONCE A YEAR if:

  • They were a tither at the church AND
  • Were members in good standing (regularly in attendance) for 6 months to 1 year AND
  • They enrolled in a money management class

While there were people who “played the system” by going from church to church looking for money to solve their poor management problems, most people had a genuine need, and we turned them away if they didn’t meet ALL of the criteria I listed above. Unless, of course, they “knew someone” who could “grease the wheels” and make something happen – fast.

Again, I’ve repented before the Lord and moved as far away from both of these pimps and their diabolical plans as I could.

So, in this case the father really did learn from the son. And the end result is still the same – YOU lose more of your money to foolishness and pimpery.

These wolves are becoming more and more brazen in their extortion attempts – and they remain successful in “shaking you down”.

7Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:7)

Sorry Paul – these pimps don’t have time to teach about grace giving or giving from the heart to our brothers and sisters who are in need…

There’s money to be made here.

u know…the last time i went 2 church, I saw that flyer too and they were talking about it from the pulpit. I found it interesting, to say the least. They probably need additional funds to pay for that building, i’m sure. Also, the membership has waned down to 17k, not @ the old 30k from 2005. When they have these “special fund raisings,” I don’t participate. However, I have not left the church because I have not felt led by God to do so.

    James –

Thanks for stopping by. Like you, I sat under Eddie Long for 5 years, and his “son” Andre Landers for 6 years. After praying to God for direction, He clearly told me that I needed to remove myself from this type of “ministry” (twisting doctrine, word of faith heresy, etc.).

I certainly don’t want to question you about whether God has released you from this wicked assembly, just as I wouldn’t want someone questioning the authenticity of my exodus after hearing from God myself.

I would ask you to take a look at one of my previous posts about the subject of remaining under a pimp who teaches false doctrine.

I know it’s tough to leave because you might be leaving others behind, but the bible clearly states what we are to do when we discover His truth.

I pray that the Lord grant you clarity and strength to do what He is calling you to do – no matter what the consequences may be.

God is speaking clearly and it’s in His Word. No saint should remain under Eddie L. Long.

1 Timothy 6 is clear and the admonishment to FLEE sound.

Eddie L. Long does NOT preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus. He preaches a message that 1 Timothy 6 makes clear is not the gospel.

Anyone that reads 1 Timothy 6 in full is bound by it and left with no excuse when they face the Lord.

  4. 4 Independent Conservative March 20, 2008 at 3:59 pm

And if it makes my admonishment more “authentic”, I left Eddie’s Club after being there 7+ years, because once I read 1 Timothy 6 I had to accept God is speaking clear as a bell and if you want to hear what He’s saying all you have to do is read His Word.

1 Timothy 6 can’t be read in full, line by line, word for word and any honest excuse be available for remaining with any of the “New Birth” gang.

I have to agree with IC James. If you are waiting for a burning in your heart or some other experience, you could wait a long time. Peter talked about his experience at Jesus’ transfiguration. Then he went on to say that the more sure testimony comes in the Word of God. And as IC points out, it does say that you are to flee the very stuff Fast Eddie preaches.

Remember – stay in a lie too long and you soon forget what the truth sounds like.

  6. 6 Cryloud March 21, 2008 at 12:54 pm

There is that same sorry excuse for not leaving the pimpery. God has already spoken and given you direction in his Holy Word. We hear the same with people caught up in the debauchery here in Orlando. “I’m waiting on God” or “God hasn’t told me to leave”. Listen, unless you are a watchman who is calling out the sins and contradictions of leadership (as Jeremiah) you need to stop fooling yourself. God is obvious (try this link for scriptures http://cryloud.com/2007/09/16/how-do-you-respond.aspx) If you are staying under the pimpernickle there is a reason . Here are just four.
    1. Trying to please leadership
    2. Looking for spoils and gain
    3. Seeking the word which pleases the flesh
    4. Drawn by the pomp, party and popularity

    Stop the abuse, leave now!

  7. 7 Speaking Truth March 21, 2008 at 3:04 pm

    CL –

I won’t speak for James, but I stayed under the influence of my pimp because of ALL of those reasons you stated.

I would’ve been “made to dissappear” if I tried to pull a Jeremiah at my former plantation, so it was easier just to flee completely and reach out to those I left behind…

In fact, your post on the subject (and a conversation I had with a friend after reading your post) was the reason that I posted a similar article here as well.

  8. 8 Unconditional Love October 12, 2008 at 11:30 pm

So God released you from the churh, you repented, and then God told you to write blogs about the church. Where does the application of the word forgive your brothers no matter how much they do to you come in to play. If they strike your cheek turn the other way. I don’t think calling men of God pimps is the right way to handle the situation, because God is a God of love I know he is not sitting up calling them pimps… so what gives u the right??? Are you listening enought to God enough to know that you are to love your neighbor??? Or did u skip every part about love. If God could love you while you were sitting under these so called pimp then why can’t he love them too, God loves all of them and you should put this situation in his hands, not down churches. Because so many lives have been saved in churches and who are you to down methods. And if something is wrong then what is done in the dark will come to the light, in due time, no help needed from u, child of God. Let God fix it, work on your relationship with God don’t hinder others from getting one.

  9. 9 speaking truth October 13, 2008 at 10:28 am

    Unconditional Love,

I’m not sure that you have read any of the other articles that I’ve posted on this blog, because I don’t spend an inordinate amount of time talking about my life under the pimps. I mention it from time to time so that I’m not accused of being an “outsider throwing stones” – especially since I know the innerworkings of these corrupt ministries – but I will address your post in it’s entirety:

So God released you from the churh, you repented, and then God told you to write blogs about the church.

No, God’s Word didn’t tell any of us former victims to “write blogs” – the Word tells us to expose false teachers so that other’s avoid them:

Ephesians 5:11 (New American Standard Bible)

11(A)Do not participate in the unfruitful (B)deeds of (C)darkness, but instead even (D)expose them

Let me ask you this Unconditional Love – if you found out that your neighbor was molesting neighborhood children, would you simply keep your kids away from them and pray for them – or would you do all of that and sound the alarm so that others would avoid them also? These pimps (including Andre Landers and Eddie Long, the subjects of this post) are molesting the Body of Christ with their lives and twisted scripture – and I am exposing them based on my firsthand experience with them.

Where does the application of the word forgive your brothers no matter how much they do to you come in to play. If they strike your cheek turn the other way.

You are referencing Matthew 5:39. If we read in context, however, we see that Jesus wasn’t advocating that Christians should lie down and subject themselves to continuous abuse – rather, he was speaking about overall retaliation (Matthew 5:38-42). This blog is not a tool of retaliation or vengance. I do nothing but tell the truth about false teachers, and admonish others to avoid them until they repent and return to the Lord. I am exhibiting my love for God, His Word, and His children by sounding the alarm to warn against those who seek to exploit Him.

I don’t think calling men of God pimps is the right way to handle the situation, because God is a God of love I know he is not sitting up calling them pimps… so what gives u the right???

I don’t believe that false teachers like Long, Landers and others are “men of God” – if they were, then they would pimp His Word and His people with their own lies. Have you read the words of Jesus in Matthew 23? Do the words “hypocrite” and “brood of vipers” suit you better than the word pimp? Have you read 2 Peter 2? Do you prefer the words “wild animals” and “dogs returning to their own vomit”? The word “pimp” aptly describes this bunch.

Are you listening enought to God enough to know that you are to love your neighbor??? Or did u skip every part about love.

I do love my neighbor, but I do not love their sin and unrighteousness – particularly as it relates to pimping God’s Word. As I’ve mentioned before, I pray for these vipers daily – praying that they repent before the Lord and that His will be done, but that does not excuse their brazen behavior.

God’s love doesn’t excuse their behavior either. 1 John properly exegeted shows us that God is Light and there is no darkness in Him (1 John 1:5); God is Righteous (1 John 3:7); and then, God is Love (1 John 4:8).Going even further, 1 John 4:9-10 demonstrates God’s love for us – that He sent His only Begotten Son to satisfy our sin debt.

So when properly exegeted, we see that God if first and foremost Light, then Righteous – removing all doubt of His Sovereignty…making His love apparent. When we see the extent of His love in sacrificing His Son for us, our response is to contend for the very Gospel that liberated us from sin – and to expose those deceivers who try to use His Gospel (in it’s twisted form) to extort His people.

If God could love you while you were sitting under these so called pimp then why can’t he love them too, God loves all of them and you should put this situation in his hands, not down churches.

God’s grace allowed me to see His truth in the midst of the pimp’s madness and my response to His love was to repent of my allegiance to pimps Long and Landers and return to the TRUE WORD OF GOD. These pimps have been confronted multiple times FACE TO FACE (by me and others), and their response has been to cast victims as demons as they continue their brazen money grabs and bible twisting. God is allowing these things to happen in His sovereign will, but again, that doesn’t negate the need to sound the alarm. I am not “downing churches” – I’m exposing the pimps who run them like a mafia organization and warning others to avoid their heresy.

Because so many lives have been saved in churches and who are you to down methods.

That’s the fundamental problem with the Word of Faith/”little gods” heresy that pimps Long, Landers, and others espouse – they prop themselves up as gods and people think that the church “saves them” – and they “stay saved” as long as they stay under the “covering” of the pimp. It is a lie from the pit of hell.

Only God saves, Unconditional Love – and He chooses whom He will save. We don’t choose Him, He chooses us.

And if something is wrong then what is done in the dark will come to the light, in due time, no help needed from u, child of God. Let God fix it, work on your relationship with God don’t hinder others from getting one.

You’re absolutely right – all of their evil will be exposed. In fact, this blog is helping to do the work of the Lord by exposing their evil as well. God is fixing it, and I’m not worried about it – I’m simply doing my part in God’s plan. Oh, and my relationship with God is ROCK SOLID – particularly because I got away from pimps like Long and Landers!

If you disagree with this blog Unconditional Love, then you’re welcome to go elsewhere. I will not and do not apologize for exposing God’s enemies. I just wish that people would defend God’s Word as much as they defend the evil pimps, heretics, apostates, and vipers who distort it.

This blog is representation of the Prophetic Kingdom of God and some people will not be able to accept it because they are filled with a learned behavior and not a revelatory behavior. Unfortunately, for some, it will be too late – – they will remember the revelatory words of these posts and pray that God turn the hands of time on their behalf. It is simply best to OBEY – – TAKE HEED – – and do what is right based upon the unadulterated Word of God.

Continue to speak the truth and expose the enemy – – if corrupt leaders were wise, they’d pull their own pants down and confess to the murderous motives of the heart. This, I know, will please the Master, and He (the Master) will save them.

    Shalom,
    Messenger Beloved

Well I do thank you so much for your information. I was also a member of NBS/HLCC. I left the church in 2006 when I moved from Atlanta. However I’d started having weird feelings before I left. The thing that really struck me the most was all the cars he and his wife had. I’d always grown up with the Pastor driving a Cadillac. Ok, I know times have changed, but for a month straight, he and his wife drove a different luxury vehicle every Sunday. A Bentley, a Range Rover, a Mercedes C class, and a BMW. I mean my goodness. I know God is good, but WOW!!! And it really bothered me how I would hear people requesting prayer for foreclosure, job loss and medical bills. Yet they were the ones that could not get any assistance from the church, but this guy has 4 luxury vehicles. I think how he manipulates the congregation is disgusting and borderline criminal. But soon enough it will all come to the light.

Well, I am a member of New Life on Snapfinger and there is also a location on Candler Road. I enjoy serving God and I give out of love and what God is doing in my life. Also, I can see where my money is going with the food lines, the barber/beauty shop, education, and other help that we are giving to those that need it. You don’t even have to be a member, everyone is treated the same whether you tithe or not. Also, Pastor Harris has publicly stated on numerous ocassions that the amount you give has no affect on how you are treated as a member.

You are right in trying to make others aware but the only thing that you can do is keep moving on and trust God that they will be enlightened one day. People that are not listening to you do not have the spirit of God within because if they did the Holy Spirit would tell them the truth. Also, people that are critical of you trying to get this message out have not read the scriptures. You have been a part of that inner circle and you know what’s going on and they still won’t listen. Terrible!!!

  13. 13 Member of NBMBC February 2, 2010 at 5:49 pm

After reading this I would have to say I am a bit upset for multiple reasons. I have been a member of New Birth for 17 years. and there are some things I would like to say:

    1. Bishop is an entrepreneur, he has car dealerships and he is a real-estate agent and he has other jobs as well…therefore he and his wife (and kids!) can drive those nice cars because he pays for them.

    2. Your relationship with God has nothing to do with the pastor, bishop, minister etc. If you REALLY, TRUELY and HONESTLY wanted an “AUTHENTIC” relationship with the Lord, you would seek it yourself. Meaning, reading the word, analyzing its contents, and living by the word(if you so please) without listening to how someone else is analyzing it and living by it.

    3. Bishop doesn’t REQUIRE anyone to give him love offerings, first fruit, etc. It is a choice! Just like your tithes. Even though the Bible says you are to give 10% to the Lord, you dont have to! I mean, He knows your heart right? If you dont wanna give back what belongs to God then so be it. But after that, offering is simply that. You are OFFERing, sacraficing, deciding to do it. But his people love him so much that they give him love offerings. And most of that money he turns around and gives it to less fortunate ppl (ie, ppl facing foreclosures, bankruptcy, alot of children and not enough income to support them) or he gives it to charity. after 18 yrs you would see that… pass the bucket for another offering then asks if u are so and so come to the alter…and he will hand the bucket to a person! but yes the cost of the building has to be paid as well. thats what tithes are for.

    4. So if you don’t agree with the things he does then ok. Thats your opinion. But you dont have to hate on/blog about him nor give FALSE INFORMATION about him and what he does. If you dont know, close your mouth. If you dont agree, seek God yourself. Teach yourself. Simple as that.

    God Bless!
Proud member of NBMBC, Bishop Eddie L Long presiding sr pastor.

      Member…,

I’ll address your comment in order:

      1. I agree that Eddie Long is a remarkable business man – and I don’t have a problem with that. I also agree that he is a savvy marketing genious, again – no problem per se’. I’m an unashamed capitalist, so he and his family should enjoy the spoils of legitimate business profit. My problem is that iin spite of his business success, Eddie (and his “daddy” TD Jakes) still see the need to fleece the sheep.

      2. Sure, Eddie doesn’t hold a gun to folks head to demand their money – but he does preach that they’ll “starve if they don’t pay God”.I have written extensive exegesis about the abuse and false teachings of tithes, love offerings – and first fruits (and I’m sure Eddie has already started reminding you and the other sheeple that your payment is due if you want God to “cover your crops for 2010”). Of course, you don’t have to make people pay you when people like Neal Ellis, TD Jakes, and others plead on your behalf.

      4. I’m not “hating” on Eddie Long, I’m simply warning people to stay away from him unless and until he repents and ceases to teach false doctrine while twisting scripture. You’re awful proud that you’ve sat under a false teacher for 17 years. I only sat under Eddie Long for 6 years – and his pimp-protege’ son Andre Landers for another 6, but I was still astute enough to respond to the Holy Spirit when it was time to flee false doctrine and repent.

      • 15 speaking truth February 2, 2010 at 7:18 pm

Sorry Member… – I forgot to add that I also agree that one can’t rely on anyone but God for TRUE fellowship and relationship. That makes it even more important to READ the WORD of God IN CONTEXT so that you can’t be fooled by smooth talking deceivers in muscle t-shirts, and you can clearly discern through the aid of the Holy Spirit what is of God and what is of man.

  14. 16 Member of NBMBC February 2, 2010 at 5:57 pm

Almost forgot…When you are an author of several books with thousands maybe millions of people buying them, there is also income in that. I mean, look at Zane, Mary Monroe, J.K. Rowling, Maya Angelou, Sharon Flake, or any other big name author? the more people that buy the book, the more money you make. so imagine 500,000 people buying one of your books then another 1mil buying another. books going at lets say about $30 a book and with the publishing company its a 80/20 split or 70/30. you still gonna make money

    • 17 speaking truth February 2, 2010 at 6:59 pm

      Member…,

As I stated earlier, I don’t have a problem with Eddie Long earning a VERY GOOD living from legitimate business ventures, I just don’t like that he steals from the sheep and lies in God’s name. I find it interesting that wolf defenders love to compare the “mand of gawd” with people in the world who make a lot of money. Do you really want to compare Eddie’s ability to earn a good living with Zane – a pornographer that another pimp uses to make money as well?

      A curious parallel indeed…

      • 18 ready4change February 5, 2010 at 11:48 am

        ST,

How are you my friend?…I know it’s been a while, but I just happen to have a few moments, so I thought I would drop in to see how you were doing…Yes, you’re correct…this last commenter’s parallel was a curious one…Perhaps I can elaborate on that in the future…Enjoying the contents as always, and I promise you that phonecall is coming one day…(smile)…I don’t see how any of my friends are still my friends lately, because I’ve been dissing them all for Uncle Sam!…(LOL!..Not intentionally though, but you know what I mean…)

Anyways, I have some interesting stuff to share with you and your readers, and as you may have noticed, I made some comments on Mel’s blog as well. I don’t have the time to share now, but a little later on in the day I will certainly make it a point to answer some of these commments on your site and humbly get you up to speed on some of my observations…Until then, be well my friend, and keep contending for the faith that was once delivered to the saints (Jude 3) and is now enjoyed by the body of Christ…

        Soli Deo Gloria,

        R4C

  15. 19 Lovely March 11, 2010 at 4:41 pm

I was surfing the web and ran across your blog. It seems as though you have alot of bitterness towards Bishop Eddie Long. Their is a fine line between exposing a false prophet and being obsessive with him! Yes, false prophets should be exposed but please do not waste the rest of your time hear on earth obsessing over someone that GAWD well punish. If you know the true GOSPEL please spread it. Maybe you will be blessed with a Mega Church also. If all of the people who blog about false prophets put their heads together and build a Mega Bible based church so many souls will be saved. Because you all seem to know the bible, give great illustrations, and live perfect lives like JESUS!

    • 20 speaking truth March 11, 2010 at 5:20 pm

Lovely – I’m not obsessed with Eddie Long, I’m obsessed with God’s Word. Rather than being “blessed with a megachurch” for “myself”, I’m quite content with the eternal life I have with God through Christ Jesus. Unlike Eddie (and other pseudo-religious narcissists), I don’t define who I am by the things I’m “blessed” with.

So I’ll keep doing what I do – joining all other bloggers who expose false teachers and liars and point the sheep to TRUE teachers of the Word. I believe it’s much better to build PEOPLE who are grounded in God’s Word and dispatch them across the earth than to build huge monuments to the ego’s of a few men.

  16. 21 Lovely March 12, 2010 at 10:01 am

    Speaking truth

As a new christian who is searching for the real truth. Your comments are not of a man who is obseesed with GOD’S word. But, they are the tearing down of your father’s children (PIMPS). “Being blessed with a MEGA CHURCH for yourself”? I didn’t mean it to be for YOU. It’s for the lost, christian’s who are seaking a true bible based church, and to MAGINIFY GOD! Your reply message back, you seemed to use alot of I’s (narcissist’s behavior). If you are indeed content with the eternal life you have with GOD through Christ Jesus continue to strive in his direction. From the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks/blog. Continue to join in with all of the bloggers who expose (obsess over) false teachers. The false teachers will lead you to where they’re headed. In the process of building PEOPLE. Please do not forget to help build their HEARTS.

    • 22 speaking truth March 12, 2010 at 10:55 am

      Lovely,

Let me be clear so that we don’t play anymore games with semantics. False teachers ARE NOT my Father’s children because they speak in direction opposition to His Word. Since I am the only author of this blog, and I maintain it’s content – it is highly appropriate that I use the term “I” when describing MY actions.

The purpose of this blog is very simple. If you disagree or take issue with any of the content then you are free to keep it movin’.
