Faithful Reprobates

Today’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on the doings of two faithful reprobates…Benny Hinn:

Wife of televangelist Benny Hinn files for divorce

ORANGE, Calif. — The wife of televangelist Benny Hinn has filed for divorce from the high-profile pastor, whose reputation as an advocate of prosperity gospel has attracted millions of followers and criticism from lawmakers and watchdog groups over his lavish lifestyle.

Suzanne Hinn filed the papers in Orange County Superior Court on Feb. 1, citing irreconcilable differences, after more than 30 years of marriage. The papers note the two separated on Jan. 26 and that Hinn has been living in Dana Point, a wealthy coastal community in southern Orange County.

…and Elton John:

Elton John: Jesus was gay

In an interview that’s sure to raise eyebrows in the Bible Belt and elsewhere, Elton John says he believes Jesus was gay.

The part-time Atlantan made the comments in an interview for Parade magazine. The comments appear in the online version of the article, but do not appear in the version appearing in Sunday’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems,” John told Parade interviewer Dotson Rader.

“On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him,” John said. “Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving….

Hopefully (like me), you’re not shocked at these latest revelations from two men (and I use that term lightly in John’s case) who are clearly reprobates. Just as babies are expected to soil their diapers and toddlers are expected to whine and throw fits, unrepentant sinners are expected to blaspheme the name of the Lord and purport all manner of evil doing.

It’s their job description, and they are faithful in their work:

Romans 1:18-32 (English Standard Version)

18For(A) the wrath of God(B) is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19For what can be(C) known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature,(D) have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they(E) became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22(F) Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23and(G) exchanged the glory of(H) the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.  24Therefore(I) God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to(J) the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25because they exchanged the truth about God for(K) a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator,(L) who is blessed forever! Amen.  26For this reason(M) God gave them up to(N) dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another,(O) men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God,(P) God gave them up to(Q) a debased mind to do(R) what ought not to be done. 29They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Though they know(S) God’s decree that those who practice such things(T) deserve to die, they not only do them but(U) give approval to those who practice them.

Clearly Paul is speaking of sexual immorality – particularly homosexuality in this condemnation (as is John’s crime), but one could extend Paul’s argument to general apostasy and heresy as well (regarding Hinn). Benny Hinn preaches a false prosperity gospel that promises health, wealth, happiness, and all manner of “good living” if one surrenders a weekly tax (and other required monetary offerings) to God. Hinn doesn’t preach salvation through Christ alone, he preaches salvation through works and deed.

While some may snicker and applaud (soon to be former) Mrs. Hinn for runnin’ for the hills, I won’t gloat – but I will point out that this is another glaring example of how hollow the promises of the false prosperity gospel really are. From a local pimps prosperity claims while avoiding the tax man on his property, to false signs of outward prosperity that mask sexual perversion and abuse).

Can either of these reprobates be helped? Absolutely! They must both repent for their deeds, and cling to God through Jesus Christ as their only hope for salvation. Will they? Only as the Lord wills. Either way – any serious Christian should avoid getting theological advice from either.

I can’t look at Elton John and Benny Hinn from the same perspective, because Elton John does not claim to be Christian. But false teacher Benny Hinn does claim to be a Christian. Some feel that statement by Elton John means he’s claiming Christianity, but I don’t think he ever actually claimed such himself. Benny Hinn does claim to be a Christian.

So from a 1 Corinthians 5 perspective. There is Elton John who is OUTSIDE and never claimed to be inside, who speaks of a false jesus. I have nothing to say about Mr. John, because it’s not my place to judge those who are “outside”. But Benny Hinn claims to be “inside”. So we have to keep warning people to avoid him. Christians should know already not to be bound with someone like Elton John anyway, he’s outside and never claimed to be inside.

Benny’s “Holy Ghost Enema” wife is as messed up as her husband. I don’t applaud their divorce. But I must say this proves the “Holy Ghost Enema” and falling all over the floors does not bring the picture perfect life that prosperity heretics claim to personify. (And even when you know the truth, keeping a marriage is hard work.)

I hope that if the Lord wills, the Hinn’s reconcile with each other and more importantly they reconcile with God. Because married or not, if they don’t stop promoting false doctrines, they’re in big trouble.

Just the same, will Benny Hinn’s marriage troubles cause his followers to realize he’s not a 1 Timothy 3 kind of man? I mean they obviously missed verse 3, but will this help them see the deal given verses 2, 4, 5 and 7? Which demand a local church elder/overseer be married to one wife, proven to manage his own house well and of good reputation even to those outside the church? Obviously, Benny Hinn should step down, even if we don’t consider verse 3 and his false prosperity doctrine.

Thanks for re-emerging on the blog, brother :-) It’s good to “see” you here again.

Your comment essentially underscores the point of the post – both Hinn and John are reprobates in my opinion. I too don’t believe that John was claiming Christianity in any way (at least I’ve never heard or read of him doing so), so he’s fulfilling his job description as an unrepentant sinner. Even though Hinn claims the Name of Christ, his actions have consistently proven otherwise – again, in allegiance with his rebellious mind as well. The point was to draw a parallel between two people who (in my opinion) prove their stance by their words and actions.

At the end of the day, each should be called to repentance and faith in Christ as their only hope (and turning away from their old lives) – which is my prayer (as the Lord wills).

    IST,
Interesting post,I’m sure the spin doctors at TBN will blame all of this on an attack of the “enemy.” It’s amazing how so many in the visible church absolutely refuse to heed the plain meaning of scripture when it comes to these vipers. When you think about the list of high profile divorces among these celebrity preachers it’s stunning. Not so much that they got divorced, but that so many people keep flocking to them no matter what they do. And that adds to the problem, these people know that no matter what they do there will always be enough people gullible enough to follow their nonsense. I do agree with you and IC, that there is hope for Hinn, but only in a true repentance and reconciliation with the true and living God.

IC has a point in that Sir Elton even went so far to say that if the God he hears about is the God of the universe, then he’s happy being without God (or some such). That said makes it even more inane that this fool is even commenting about how “super intelligent” and gay he feels God is or is not. Personally, I think he is saying that because the so-called Christian men he has encountered haven’t shown compassion, which was his angst anyway.

Which brings us to Brother Benny. He “shows” compassion to the masses, but has he ever felt it? There’s only one person who would know, one person who would stick through thick and thin – Senate hearings and ABC Nightline reports… and she just split. What’s that tell the TBN posse? That she needs prayer? Probably, but for those of us who can look at this objectively, there’s a much bleaker story.

Nice write up with Romans, brother. Missed hearing from you. Glad to see you are well.

    Peace,
    HiScrivener

Elton does not affirm the Deity of Christ. He does not at all consider Jesus to be Christ or Lord. Just some super smart man he’s deemed homosexual. It’s not like Elton is trying to consider scripture infallible and preserved by the Holy Spirit. Elton does not embrace the truth of Christ and never claimed to, not even for personal gain. Benny claims the truth is in the Bible, then twist it for personal gain.

I always find it interesting how homosexuals can speak of how they feel some Christians have treated them, while they don’t say much about how they are trying to disrespect everyone by pushing their own agenda on this entire nation. (I’m not saying this world is a Christian’s home, but just citing the double standard.) I mean, sure there are some Christians who mistakenly try to judge the world, and I’m guilty of having done it at times. (May even be judging by bringing up the homosexual’s double standard.) But even if a Christian says homosexuality is a sin, that is something homosexuals claim is showing no “compassion”. Unless Christians “bend over” (pun totally intended) and accept all that homosexuals want to have accepted, we will always be called unkind no matter how loving we are with them.

But at least, Elton does not claim to be a preacher of the Gospel. There are heretics who claim to be preachers and claim exactly what Elton said is true. And there are people who claim to be “inside” and say homosexuality is not an abomination.

I wonder if Benny Hinn fell out in the floor when his wife presented him with papers or said in his deep spooky stage voice “Fire on you” and laid her out on the floor. Maybe that is what she got tired of? Ok all jokes aside because it really isn’t funny. The Benny Hill I mean Hinn Circus seems to be shutting down, but I guarantee he will be back just like DOCTOR Juanita Bynum with a new vision, new word, new goals and new everything. Just wait and see. Everything is a money making opportunity, soul winning went out the window years ago, when he hired people catchers on stage. Oh yah and they have had someone DIE from other folks falling on them I believe it was a little old lady, died from complications of a hip fracture. While he is on stage blowing in the microphone mass hypnotizing the audience, his brother is down off camera usually in a basement or lower level controlling who goes to see Him. If they are in Wheelchairs, horribly maimed, feeding tubes, stretchers, they are quietly prayed for by an intercessory team and sent away. Their money is happily excepted though. Benny Hinn’s pants are in flames he’s been lying for years. I’m still waiting to see Jesus on stage, he practices necromancy by talking and channeling the spirit of Kathryn Kullman, He claims to have gone to a Catholic hospital and walked in and healed all the patients. The hospital was contacted and claim no such thing happened, and claim all their beds were full and people were sick and dying at the same rate as usual unfortunately and no thanks to lie like a rug Benny. ok enough about Profit Hinn now on to Fairy John, I got one thing that will probably explain his most recent outburst of coziness with his psuedo-Christia(I’m not even going to say it), TYE TRIBBET!! You got him running around preaching, sanging, swanging, cheating, and God only knows what else. Demon possessed Johnny Girl sits observing looking for justification for his nasty ways and Ding!!!! in pops fence sitter. Nuff said.

I’m note sure if you have seen this

Nothing like bad mouthing your wife in front of the entire world and acting as if you did nothing at all to cause her to file for divorce.

And while there might not have been any infidelity at all, it sure would make more sense for him to step down and continue trying to work on his marriage. Instead of having a house that is no longer a good example and claiming he’ll go on regardless. As they say, THE SHOW MUST GO ON!

A false teacher never lets divorce stop him from more fleecing. And even some Armenians will act as if they can’t step down because they feel the spread of the gospel will be impaired without “them” continuing. As if God does not have a means to keep the word spreading as He sees fit.

Till this point, I never said Benny ever did anything bad within his own marriage to his wife, aside from his brining poisonous doctrine into his house. But with that statement he did far more damage than good. While till this point his wife has maintained silence and said nothing to discredit Benny’s public image. Benny has now painted his wife as a delusional reprobate. That’s certainly NOT going to help reconcile his marriage. It might even result in more public disclosure of their marital matters and further cause some weak in faith to stumble. I mean his bad doctrine causes enough to stumble via its strong delusion, but this may even make matters worse. The Lord’s will be done, those who are the Lord’s will be saved, but this will be a hard lesson for some. I’m sure for the elect, God will ensure it all works out for good.

This may all end like the other false teachers who had divorces. Them still on stage with a mic in their hands, but less people willing to listen to them. And if people start leaving Benny’s camp, that would only be a GOOD THING.
